I ordered a family bucket for £26 and chose to eat in, but I ended up asking for it to be packed as takeaway because the atmosphere inside was so uncomfortable.

Atmosphere: The restaurant was very cold as the door was constantly open. I mentioned this to the cashier (a polite guy in a black hoodie), but nothing was done. The floor and chairs were slippery, and the tables didn’t feel clean or safe to sit at. The space was small and cramped, and it was hard to relax as people kept walking past our table.

Food: Unfortunately, the food was disappointing too — overall a 1-star experience. The only decent item was the chicken wings. Everything else was too salty, especially the chicken strips. The fried chicken tasted plain and ordinary, with no special flavour that you’d expect from Chicking.

Hygiene: One of the kitchen staff (wearing a green t-shirt and with a long beard) was not wearing a beard cover, which didn’t look hygienic.

Overall, it was not a pleasant experience — uncomfortable atmosphere, overly salty food, and hygiene concerns. Definitely...

I had been eagerly waiting for Chicking to open in Northampton, and my first experience did not disappoint! The customer service was excellent, and I opted for takeout. Since we live in Coventry, I was initially concerned about how well the food would hold up during the journey, but it was packed perfectly to maintain its freshness.

The chicken pieces were well-cooked—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and generously sized. The meal also came with coleslaw, which was a nice touch. The fries did get soggy on the way, but that wasn’t their fault. I air-fried them again, and they turned out superb—some of the best fries I’ve had! If eaten fresh, I’m sure they would have been even better.

The only downside is the parking situation, which can be a bit tricky. Chicking Northampton is located in Kingsthorpe, Alexandra Terrace, near the shopping centre, so finding a spot might take some time.

I recently visited Chick King, and I have to say, it was an amazing experience! The fried chicken and the tandoori burger was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside—absolutely packed with flavor. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned.
