This cafe is an absolute gem of a place. At first, we thought it odd that we had to wait for a table in a village cafe on a Sunday mid-morning, but once we began our meal, it became clear as to why.
The staff are wonderful, the food is absolutely delicious and my dietary requirements were well catered for. Decaffeinated tea/ coffee and a range of gluten-free options. It's very difficult to find variety when you must eat GF, so to find I could have Eggs Royale with a good-sized piece of GF bread absolutely made my day! The poached eggs were beautiful. Fresh, rich yolk and perfectly cooked. The coffee was delicious and the Nutella crispy was decadent. Very sweet though, so if you're not a sweet tooth (as I am), they have a Victoria sponge style option which looked great.
My friend had sausage, beans, poached egg and potato scone on a chunky slice of sourdough bread. She said the potato scone was divine and she didn't want it to end.
My other friend had French toast with bacon and maple syrup. It looked wonderful. Chunky bread, good amount of egg and bacon.
As we had driven up from Yorkshire to see my friend and go see Simple Plan at the O2 Academy the previous night and we chose this place on the recommendation of my friend's auntie, I wasn't sure whether it would be any good, but I can promise you this, Coffee Jam is absolutely worth it.
I will definitely be returning to this cafe even if I drive up just to eat there and drive home again.
An enormous thank you to the staff who made us feel so welcome and looked after our party so well. You made this Yorkshire lass...
Read moreFood looked the part but was tasteless, bland and very greasy. Oversized portions of bad food on a small plate so every time you try to cut something it slides off the plate. Trying to reinvent the wheel with "home made potato scone" a half inch patty of oily mash, it was rotten. My little girl asked for some fresh banana on the side of her French toast, she was given two strips of mushy fried banana which she didn't touch, they tried to charge £2 extra for. My son ordered a biscoff milkshake, dumbest thing I`ve ever seen, they smear the top 3 inches of the glass in biscoff spread so you get covered in it every time you brush past it or try to pick it up (10 points for whoever came up with that idea) As I was paying the bill the waitress asked my opinion on the food and I told her the truth, it wasn't good. Some heavy woman (sorry for all you snowflakes out there but she didn't introduce herself before running her mouth, so i use that 1 descriptive word to set her apart from the other 5 female employees) decided to stand and argue with me, telling me my opinion was wrong and everyone loves the place, absolutely stinking attitude, next time just nod and smile or...
Read moreCurrently sat waiting here for 30 minutes. Waiting to be served, people around me getting served before me even though I sat down first and I’m just one person, easy order right?. I came in at 13:35. Cafe had a few empty tables and a lot of staff, elderly couple next to me were complaining about the wait also, because we can hear the staff behind the counter just talk.
I probably won’t be back unfortunately, the food was not worth the wait as I just wanted a quick bite before running errands. I ordered just poached eggs on sourdough with mushroom, this was ordered at 14:15. It came out at 14:29, which is impressive seeing as it took more than half the time to be served.
A little apology from the staff for the wait would have been nice, but it wasn’t even acknowledged that there was people waiting 30+ minutes to even be talked to, I would’ve been a bit more forgiving if they were understaffed but I saw at least 5 different people working, for a place that has 10 tables. And only 6 are occupied.
I sure hope for the rest of the people the 90 minute max seating starts when they...
