An unfortunate experience on a Friday night. Do not expect to be served a cocktail worthy of its price tag. The menu confidently declares that "You will not taste a better Negroni this winter", a beverage which is "oozing Italian class". The Negroni is one of my favourite cocktails - how naive of me to believe the hype in the menu. The bartender had no idea about how to create this beverage. After twice checking the ingredients on cue cards, the alcohol was measured straight in to a glass without ice, contrary to the required method - a method which happens to be outlined in the menu as involving the stirring of three varieties of alcohol "slowly over ice to release their rich and complex flavours". The bartender requested payment in a surly manner whilst he awaited the arrival of ice. It was at this point that I should have decided against paying. Once I'd paid he dumped ice in the drink and stirred slightly with two straws. I pointed out that the alcohol is supposed to be stirred slowly over ice (with a metal cocktail stirrer). He responded with a glare, stating flatly, "I can stir it more for you if you like...?" I walked away with my sorry looking drink, stirring it myself to melt the ice - this was not "oozing Italian class". I should have declined and refused to pay - this drink was not a Negroni. This person clearly needs to be provided with further training, both in the art of mixology and also in the skills required of his customer facing role. Perhaps he should consider seeking alternative employment as a role in hospitality may not be for him - there are other job opportunities out there where he would not need to serve customers directly, whether he needs full-time employment or a part-time role to support himself whilst...
Read moreAbsolutely love this place for desserts! It’s such a lovely spot! I go there often with my best friend and we always have a great time. Their gluten-free brownie is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. It’s a warm, gooey chocolate brownie served with ice cream, and it’s just heavenly. The warm cookie dough with vanilla ice cream (not gluten-free) is another favorite so good that we go back just for that. Just a heads-up: that amazing brownie is often sold out. If the kitchen closes at 10pm, make sure you go around 8:30pm to get your hands on it, because it’s usually not available and for good reason.
Beyond desserts, the food is genuinely great. They have a fried chicken dish that’s delicious, and their burgers are spot on. I really appreciate that they offer gluten-free options, which I absolutely love. The vibe of the place is just gorgeous! I’m obsessed with the lampshades, lighting, mirrors, and overall decor. It’s cozy yet stylish, and they have games available too, so you’re never bored while waiting for your food.
The service has always been top-notch. Even when it’s packed, the staff is friendly, attentive, and super kind. Oh! and they’re dog-friendly, which makes every visit extra special. I’ve had the joy of meeting so many cute pups there! The couches are super comfy, making it the perfect place to relax and hang out.
Price-wise, I’d say it’s mid-range, not cheap, but definitely worth it for the quality of food, service, and overall experience. I don’t mind paying a bit more for a place that gets it right on so...
Read moreI have been to conto many times before and had a lovely experience but the last two times I have been I have had the same issue. I came in with my friend for some lunch today (13/09/2020) and we got told it was a 50 minute wait for food but we were happy with that. We both ordered from the app and clicked pay now at exactly the same time, the drinks took a while to come and considering the amount of glasses left on the side not being cleaned this makes sense. My friends panini came at 1:42 (she took a picture of it) and then I was told mine wouldn't be long. That was an understatement if I've ever heard one! My food took an extra 30 minutes to come and I wasn't apologised to at all in this time. My friend tried to eat so slowly but had pretty much finished by the time I received mine. The last time we came a few weeks ago the same thing happened and I had to wait an extra 20 minutes for my food. I do understand it was busy but surely if orders come from the same table number they should arrive pretty promptly after eachother, not 30 minutes. If I had not already paid I would have walked out because it was just ridiculous.
Unfortunately I would have to say I wouldn't recommend conto lounge to any of my friends or family due to this situation which is really sad as I have had many positive experiences here. I think not getting an apology or explanation made it a lot worse and having to eat on my own as my friend had already finished when we came here together.
All in all not a good Sunday...
