Generally good, but some dishes better than others. It's great to have a Vietnamese restaurant in the area, but I probably got too excited... it doesn't really compare to places you'll find in East London etc.
Great: The Mango Salad was great, as was the stir fry Beef Bun.
Good: The Summer Rolls were well prepared and packed, though so light on the 'main ingredients' that nobody could tell which was the chicken, which was the pork and which was the Tofu... The Chicken Pho was really nice, well prepared with lots of fresh herbs and a good broth, but we got it delivered and the broth was so poorly packed it had lost a lot in transit and was stone cold by the time it arrived. They might need to look at some specific containers for liquid / soup, rather than just using standard square takeaway tubs that are easily crushed.
Fair: The Bahn Mi were the weakest thing in the order. The baguettes were too stodgy, like Subway bread gone stale. There was no crunch on the outside, the inside was dry and the fillings were poor. The Tofu was in enormous chunks, as was the pork (some of which was just pure fat). The real problem was that it didn't have nearly enough salad, and if there was any coriander in there then I totally missed it.
Overall, it's probably the best Vietnamese restaurant in Bournemouth, but there isn't much competition... In reality it's pretty 'average' in terms of all the Vietnamese meals I've ever had, so in truth I'm not sure we'd pick it again over other better local takeaway...
Read moreWe came here to try their pho and banh mi. Seating wise, there's plenty of seats available, however I would avoid sitting in the right corner by the entrance. As there was a slope and so the chair would lean quite far back if not careful. The seating on the left (bench seats) unfortunately is a little too high for the tables, which I find quite discomforting.
•Special pho: really liked their beef meatballs. The chicken and beef is a bit dry and unfortunately the soup wasn't hot enough. I personally didn't like the use of reusable wooden chopsticks (that have no coating), as I don't really like that feeling of the wood soaking up the liquid. A little bit pricey (£18.50), will probably not order this again, but might order their meatballs pho. •BBQ pork banh mi: the BBQ pork wasn't what I was expecting. It was more like pan-fried pork with lemongrass seasoning. The pork floss was really nice. Their baguette was also very good, it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Not chewy at all.
In general the banh mi is definitely worth trying, perfect for a light lunch (portion and...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Vietrose today and it honestly left such an impression on us. You can truly feel the love and care in every dish, just as they promise, it’s like being cooked for as if you’re family.
The summer rolls were so fresh and light, the salt foam iced coffee was incredible (probably the best coffee I’ve had in ages), and the coconut one was just as delicious. The pho was warming, full of depth, and the beef was so tender. The homemade pickled garlic and chilli sauces on the side were the perfect touch and showed how much attention they put into every detail.
Reading the story on the menu about their mission to bring the true flavours of Vietnam here in Bournemouth made the meal even more special. It’s clear they’ve succeeded, the food feels genuine, heartfelt, and unforgettable.
We’ll definitely be back and honestly want to try the whole menu. This place deserves so much more recognition, and I really hope more people discover what a treasure...
