Four of us visited here for the evening after travelling up from the Midlands. Easy to get to in the town. The downstairs room is quite cosy but there is a bigger room with more seating upstairs on the first floor with the toilets being located on the second floor. Great selection of beers and a few ciders too, we sampled a good few of them as we stayed for about 5 hours.. Staff were friendly and efficient and the place was very well patronised with most if not all the seating being taken up for most of the evening until about 10.30pm. We had not eaten since lunch and an especially nice touch was that we were allowed to bring locally purchased take away food to eat whilst we finished the evening off. Read moreHaving strolled down to penrith I felt a hearty beverage was in order. So perusing the catalog of pubs available in this sleepy market town, I finally decided upon Fell bar. Opposite the opticians it is not hard to find, I saw it clearly from quite some way over the road. The list of available ales was quite agreeable and when questioned the staff were willing and able to inform me of the flavour of the day!
I'll definitely be consuming this beverage and polishing off several more before I'd consider leaving? ... I'd definitely recommend anyone to go, but don't forget to bring your own glass as they don't let you use their glasses without...
Read moreReally nice cosy place for a drink, especially if you're into your ales. Visited on a Saturday around 5ish and you could see it'd soon be difficult to get a seat despite having additional room upstairs.
Good selection of ales ranging from £4.50 all that way up to £10+ and also had spirit and wine options. The place is dog friendly and the bar staff were very knowledge and helpful. Were even able to provide us with some detail about other places to visit in Penrith.
Would definitely recommend it and its ideally situated to go for a takeaway...
