Penrith and Eden Museum — Attraction in Penrith

This was once a school for poor girls many years ago, with interesting writing and dates above the door. It's now a museum of geographical and some social history. Plenty of interesting archaeological finds, interesting old photos, especially of the early wrestlers. Very interesting about the Crimean war history and the battle of Balaklava. Lovely little museum, collection of natural history and social history exhibits. A completed jigsaw puzzle being my favourite. Not sure why this would warrant being curated, 1000 pieces, perhaps it was someone's lifetime achievement, interesting and thought-provoking...

This museum is well worth a visit. Small it might be but a real time capsule of interesting artifacts relating to Penrith, Eden and the lake district. I received a very warm welcome from one of the team on the desk as I entered. The building itself is as interesting...
