We’d been to the Dog and Beck Spoons and were left severely disappointed by their inability to run a business, they’d failed to maintain their stock and made multiple mistakes with our order to the point we had to get a refund and leave something which they still dragged their feet on. They were hostile towards my partner for being unable to eat food that was not correct when he has struggled with eating issues for over 10 years. Upon leaving we found the Board and Elbow who were lovely and accommodating from the moment we walked in the door, ensuring we found a seat with wheelchair accessibility, communicating well, and delivering the food we deserved despite how late in the day we arrived, there were no lapses in quality or ill feeling and the food was served to the highest quality. Portions were perfectly sized, not too small however not overwhelming either. We had the seafood basket and the trio of cheeses. The seafood came with chips that were above standard and we highly recommend the dishes we had. If you need amazing food with attentive, friendly service definitely visit the Board and Elbow. Thank you for salvaging our night and making us feel safe, providing us with a good hearty meal and not...
Read moreI would recommend people check the food reviews specifically, as a lot of the 5 star reviews are for the drinks, bar and the previous menu.
The bartender was really nice and friendly. They had misplaced the disabled toilet key so I had to help my disabled brother use the normal one which wasn't ideal.
Ordered a mixed grill, cheese and bacon burger and mac and cheese with some bacon and chicken, and a load of drinks.
Mixed grill was nice but the tomatoes tasted of soap for some reason.
Cheese and bacon burger was nice according to my brother.
Mac and cheese with bacon and chicken was a child sized portion, maybe fill a 5 year old, see picture. Just under £14 for this main. Even the waiter paused for a second in disgust.
I asked the bartender if the portion was meant to be that small, he said no and apologised, took it back to the kitchen.
Did they make it bigger? No, the chef just put it in a wider dish and maybe added sauce. What a joke of a chef. Wasn't even nice.
The place has been let down by the food. You used to get some hearty meals here, now it's just your bog standard pub food, and they can't even do that right.
Edit: I am almost certain they are replying with LLM responses to all these...
Read moreWas working late so came for food before my train. The burger came out and was lukewarm throughout which was concerning coming straight from the kitchen. I naturally told the barmaid and she asked if I would like anything else. I asked for a refund as I had a train to catch and she got the manager. The manager then came out and said the burger was probed at 72.5 which there was no chance, so I suggested the probe may be faulty. He took this badly and suggested I was lying for some reason. He then explained he had personally cooked the burger and not the chef, then explained how they cook 40-200 meals a day and they never have any complaints, which is unlikely as mistakes can be made in any industry. My request for a refund was bluntly denied and he walked away.
I will now avoid this venue as the attitude of the manager was appalling towards me. I work locally and will pass an email to colleagues and alert friends locally to avoid also. For the sake of a £8 refund on an undercooked burger they have potentially lost a lot of business. The managers attitude reflected someone under severe pressure, and disvalues the character of the premises and the overall staff who...
