First visit to center parcs, great parc & welcoming staff until you reach Hucks & it let's the standards down!! Not great sign posting for the entrance and we came in one door just off the playground. Waited at the door unsure of whether to sit ourselves down or wait to be seated and we were ignored by servers so proceeded to find a table. Another 15 minutes later and no menus to be seen and server's just walking past us repeatedly (it was quiet by the way - three tables in). I approached a server and asked for some menus. He told me I can get them from the front, pointing in another direction. I had to leave my two children and ask another server towards the front as they still couldn't be seen. A girl handed them to me from behind a station and off I went. Back at the table another 10 minutes later she then comes back over to me and asks if I've booked a table? No - as I had just arrived from a big journey. She told me we can't sit at the table and we were moved to probably their worst tables in the corner. They had shoved a large family 10 - 12 people approx into the corner and stuck us on the end which felt like we were gate crashing a private party. Eventually over 30 minuites later a girl appeared to take a drinks order and she was nice and it sort of rectified a bad start although I didn't feel like I wanted to relax and stay for dessert so I paid before she even cleared the plates. The head of the table on the larger party was repeatedly having to up from her to table to make an order or chase a missing drink etc. Day three - I tried to make a booking for this place as the children wanted to play on the frames etc whilst dinner was cooking. The online booking system was causing an error and wouldn't allow me to add my guests and was advising to call a number which just kept disconnecting because there is no reception in large parts of the grounds. In the end we jumped on the bikes and rode to Hucks to try as a walk in. Apparently reduced capacity as they were trialling a new menu. I'm travelling with a disabled child and another child. The restaurant is large and three quarters if not more empty when I have been on both occasions yet they turn money away. Totally finished now with this restaurant and won't return to any of their chain. The only attraction is because you are stuck on site with not a massive restaurant option and they offer burgers etc which appeals to children. I went to guest services next door and they couldn't me more helpful and booked me immediately into a much better restaurant...
Read moreI'm not one to leave reviews but I feel like this place really needs a special mention. We have two toddlers and spent the whole day walking and swimming and had a pretty light lunch. So when it came time for dinner I was pretty excited for some American cuisine. I saw fall of the bone ribs on the menu with fries with a tag of a whopping 1900 calories and this was just what my body wanted. I'm maybe slightly over weight to getting almost a day's worth of calories at the end of a busy day would have been perfect.
When the ribs came I was beyond disappointing. There wasn't 2000 calories on the table if I downed the bottles of ketchup and mayo. It was a pathetic small line rack of ribs that are exactly like the ones you get in supermarkets to throw in the oven. The fries were tiny also and coleslaw was a spoonful at best.
The most amazing thing is other reviewers have posted pics of these ribs and have given them 5 stars. When I see ribs in an American style diner for £18 I expect a lot more.
I also had a strange issue with the kids menu that others seemed to have had. I ordered the main and the drink and when I went to say the dessert I was rudely interrupted and was told to order that at the end. OK fine. After the food was served the staff disappeared and it took quite a lot of effort to get their attention. we asked for the kids dessert and they were confused and asked if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I said just the ice-cream on the kids menu please. She was still confused. I felt like she was trying to get me to order a dessert not on the kids menu so that all the items would be charged separately.
Overall I would say the food was almost illegally advertised, supermarket level convenience food that, at even half the price, I'd be soley disappointed. Center Parcs has taken advantage of people with few...
Read moreWe ate here on New Year's Day in the evening. As expected it was very busy and they seemed pretty short-staffed - everyone running all over the place, felt very sorry for them.
As a group of 12 we were on a long table - which was the case everywhere we'd eaten throughout our Center Parcs holiday - but it was impossible here to talk to anyone at the other end as it was so loud. We were offered either table service or use of a QR code on the menu. I'd have been happy to do the latter but most were more comfortable with table service and it was really very good overall considering the ground the staff were covering. Our drinks orders were taken and delivered promptly as were starters. The nachos are a great and sizeable starter - I'd happily have them as a main. Garlic bread went down really well with our 7 year old!
Mains took a while to arrive but were really good when they did. The ribs were tender and fell off the bone. Not sure if I was just lucky but mine were very meaty. Partner's burger was great too. Our 9 year old declared her chicken nuggets "the best ever" and 7 year old enjoyed her pasta, though the serving was really quite small (though do bear in mind said 7 year old can eat an adult's portion of pasta with ease :D).
We didn't stay for dessert as we'd waited so long for our mains, but honestly it was understandable - as I say, staff seemed thin on the ground and were doing the best they could. All in all the food was good, the atmosphere was lively and the kids enjoyed their meals (as did we!). Couldn't...
