We were given a room with disabled accessibility. The room itself was quite nice but not a lot of thought had gone into it. The bathroom had been converted to a wet room, which is fair enough, but there was no unit or counter to put anything on. The only thing that could act as a surface for putting toiletries etc on was the back of the toilet but there was no lid on the actual toilet so there was no room for error. The shower has a wall mounted chair but this then leaves little room for an able bodied person to stand and shower. The floor is very uneven as it seems they took the existing shower tray out but didn't think to level the floor. If you are unsteady on your feet you'd have to be very careful as the slope is significant. If you want to have a wash or brush your teeth then good luck as the sink basin is small enough to balance your phone across it! A few of the sockets in the room had been lowered but if a disabled person plugged their phone in, for example, you'd have to then just put it on the floor as there is no table or shelf to go with the socket. There is a mirror at a desk so if you wanted to do you hair you'd possible struggle to see yourself if you were in a wheelchair plus the lower socket is about 10 feet away. Lighting is very poor, other than in the bathroom. The room is dimly lit so if you are wanting to do medications, peg feeds or even just your make up, it is difficult to see. And you cant do it in the bathroom as there is nowhere to put anything other than the back of the toilet or the floor. There is a full length mirror by the door but the plug is floor height and again no shelf for putting anything on. Bathroom could have...
Read moreIt was a bit confusing at first as I went direct to the hotel and couldn't get in so I rang the hotel and got through to the restaurant. They explained I needed to go to the carvery to check-in.
The first room allocated did not have an opening window so I was moved to the room next door. All staff I encountered both in person and on the telephone were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and pleasant smelling. There were plenty of sachets of tea, coffee and milk and the toiletries were ample. I would suggest adding a shower cap to the bathroom toiletries. There was a fan and an iron too so everything you need.
I had two good nights' sleep in a very comfortable, clean bed. However, the pillows were not that comfortable and it would be nice to have at least one feather pillow to choose.
My only criticism of the room is that there was not enough light. I noticed there was a desk lamp in the first room but not in the second. I did have some paperwork to complete and had to wait until daytime to do it as the room light was not sufficient.
As I need to stay in this specific area, I have tried other hotels in the vicinity but so far this has been the best.
I did not need to use the restaurant during my stay but can see it is very popular and offers a great selection of meals.
Overall I was very satisfied with my stay at Innkeeper's Lodge and would recommend it as a great place to stay in the area. They have a great team of staff and you are made to feel very...

Hotel is seperate from the Toby carvery but both very close to eachother.
Free parking overnight with camera surveillance.
Rooms were clean and surprisingly comfortable. Beds were firm but decent sheets and comfy. Plug sockets by the bedside with usb ports as well.
I got a family room costing £89. Room only. Shower had good water pressure and hot. Electric radiator that heated up the room in under an hour. Rooms were secure with two key fob locked doors before access to the room.
WiFi speed test showed a download speed of around 90mbps although the WiFi did require you to log in again every few hours.
Tea and coffee facilities were in the room as standard.
Toby carvery was a 10 second walk across the car park. Just under £13 for a king-size size option plate. This was a fantastic feed. For a very low cost. Service was fast and polite.
Breakfast is just over £10 with hot food options and coffee and all the standards. No complaints.
And there's a petrol station again in walking distance with an Asda shop attached I believe so any supplies you need you can get them there. This is close to the road but I didn't hear any traffic at all.
All in all this was a really good stay. Especially if you're working away from home it has everything you need for a low cost and a decent comfortbal night. Would stay again...
