One of the best Sunday dinners we've had in years! Very, very impressed 😉
We were supposed to eat elsewhere today, but thankfully there were no spaces available, so a little Google search later and we found The Star Inn. The staff were amazing, so pleasant, helpful and full of smiles! It's hard to find such great people like this ♥️
A Sunday dinner (a great one ☺️) can be made at home, after balancing lots of different cooking times and temperatures. But so many places/pubs/establishments just never deliver when cooking en masse. Not today though 🙀😁 We just loved this meal: lovely herbs on the roast potatoes; tasty, crunch and soft (in the right places 🤣) Yorkshire puddings; veg that wasn't tuned into a soggy mess; fabulous broccoli and cauliflower cheese (not soggy 👍); nicely seasoned meat and mashed potatoes... Even the gravy had a great flavour, and yes, I scaped out the last of the gravy with a spoon 🤫☺️
Thank-you to everyone that was working today, you made our day and our...
Read moreMy Dad used to eat here quite often when he was still able to get about & we came with him for Sunday roasts when visiting. Always good pub grub with very friendly staff who Dad said would chat with him when he went on his own. Sadly he died recently and as we had Mum's wake there it seemed a natural choice for his. The refurbished Bistro was a beautiful setting, especially as it was sunny & we were able to spill out of the french doors to the patio area. The food was excellent and plentiful and Lauren, our waitress was pleasant & helpful. As l am yeast intolerant and unable to eat normal bread l was delighted that there were some wraps amongst the sandwich selection. A sad occasion made a pleasant one - many thanks to all concerned. I notice complaints about the loos - l didn't use them that day but on all previous visits to the main pub l have always found them to be very clean - & l suffer from OCD & hate using public loos but am happy...
Read moreYou will see the main room when you first enter this pub and it is where the meals are usually served, but there is an annex for functions, Stables, and a smaller bar at the back. The menu is varied and at around 5pm some special offers are available. We have the meat pie, and this comes with a warning, unless you are exceedingly hungry then have the smaller portion. The pie is the best I have had in any eating establishment, large chunks of meat, which along with the chips and veg make for a very filling meal. All meals are home cooked and like most pubs the level of service varies to the amount of customers. I'm not a beer drinker but the house red is of reasonable quality at a fair price. In fact the whole meal, plus drinks will not break the bank for a couple and if you still need something to top it all off the deserts are worth a...
