Came into Weston-super-Mare, on this Autumn misty rainy day looking for some relief from a few very stressful weeks.
Didn't book and turned up to a very warm welcome. We were seated promptly and ordered with relaxed time to make choices.
We both had the roast dinner. Butternut squash wellington with roasted potatoes, braised and beautifully spiced red cabbage, Stuffing, Buttery Carrots, Broccoli Cheese and the richest and delicious red wine gravy I can remember having. I cannot state enough that the food here has never failed to deliver on exceptional taste nor ample portions. The way the chef creates the flavours with the ingredients is always astounding. I could not eat pud. We sat both so relaxed and sated after eating that we could have curled up and continued talking to eachother in the relaxed ambience and soul warming environment. I have truly never had a negative word about Loves. In my opinion, the best restaurant in the southwest of the UK! Also a nod to the service who could teach a lot of so say professional eateries a great deal about making a customer feel comfortable welcome and happy to be...
Read moreLoves is one of the absolute best businesses in Weston, if not the whole country! Amazing vegan food, wonderful atmosphere and fantastic events, all run by a a team who are passionate about caring for the environment and others.
I wish that more businesses would operate in a manner that was as ethical, inclusive and low-impact as Love's - but to be successful your product must also be great... And of course at loves it is. The food is really excellent, creative, sustainable and delicious. There's also a great selection of drinks and snacks.
I especially recommend their event dinners, the last of which I had during a moving film screening as part of the 'green futures' event. This was a low-carbon supper made almost exclusively from very local produce. Each one of the three courses was absolutely delicious - from pearl barley risotto to roast squash to leak fritter to apple tart. All amazing. Thanks so much Anna and team - we will be back over and over again :)
Oh and it's very dog-friendly - always a...
Read moreSet menu tapas night. Food was tasty but service terrible. Staff didn’t wear face covers, our waitress handed us her mobile phone (in the days of online menus for health and safety!) to have a look at the pictures of the drinks in the fridge to make our choice, clearly saying that she had no idea what the wines and beers were (and she also couldn’t care less). Insufficient wine glasses so some had to drink from water glasses. Wine was not nice and at 15£ the bottle, it gave me a headache within a couple of hours. When the dishes arrived she didn’t know what they were when asked (“Hummus with some bits on it”, really?! ) she honestly couldn’t have cared less for the job (she said she was only there to put her kids through uni!), she looked like someone that was just grabbed from the street to cover for a busy night, very unprofessional even for a casual...
