This place has recently been taken over and as a regular frequenter of it's previous ownership it's hard not to compare. There is a far more limited food menu or maybe it's a far less tempting menu, but if you are happy with traditional pub grub then you'll be satisfied. There are all the usual choices burgers, Mac and cheese, fish and chips, if you like a steak it only comes as part of a salad. Having said this the food we chose was really tasty. My friend had the fish and chips and thought it was good, also loved all the accompanying side; pea fritters were a hit, the tartar sauce the best and not being a fan of mini gherkins he was happy that all the sides were in separate serving dishes to pick and choose. The smashed burger was my choice also very tasty - the menu states a Mac and cheese patty is part of the burger and also bacon but I'm not a fan of either( others would love this) so asked for a plain cheese burger and the staff were very happy to provide what I asked for. I was driving so non alcohol ginger beer for me, my friend had a pint of cruzcampo (lager).£6.50. The pub was very busy both a football game followed by the Scotland England rugby ensured the place was full The atmosphere was good but very noisy so couldn't hear my friend talk from across the table but as a plus if you're not interested in talking to the people you came with this was a night for you lol! and in seriousness the layout still offers a nice comfortable setting some booths and some tables, comfortable chairs and a nice log burner to keep the place warm and cozy. The biggest plus is it's still Dog Friendly, actually the only negative to this place was that at £46+ (without a tip) it's a bit expensive for 2 meals and a...
Read moreFound this place via Google Map ratings and it was a total gem. Not your typical dark basement cocktail bar. It’s upstairs (with nice window views of the street below) and welcoming, with warm-toned decor and a great parquet floor that adds charm. The cocktail menu was inventive but approachable, and every drink we tried (6 different ones) was well-balanced.
What really made it stand out was the bartender, Allie (sp?), who was incredibly friendly and genuinely interested in helping us make the most of our time in Glasgow. He recommended Stravaigin down the street, which turned out to be one of the best restaurants of our trip.
Rascal is the kind of spot that feels like it’s part of a local circuit — casual, stylish, and clearly run by people who care about what they’re doing. Would...
Read moreVisited a few weeks ago for a celebration, just happened upon the place and was so pleasantly surprised - We were the only ones in at the time we went and Jack was serving us, we had only planned on one or two drinks and ended up spending the entire night there! Jack was so incredibly knowledgeable about each drink and told us how they conjure up new drinks each week for the specials and infuse different alcohols with things - he even asked us what ideas we had for cocktails and we suggested a sour patch kids themed drink - he then made us one off the cuff and it was absolutely incredible - will definitely be back soon,...
