Sunday roast On Sunday the 14th we booked a table at 3.30 for a Sunday roast with the family. I have been wanting to try here for a while as the instagram looks amazing. We also travelled 30 mins to come here. The staff were lovely and very attentive. We had a puppy and they were great with her and also got some scraps for her. We got 2 soups & chicken wings. The soup was lentil, carrot & ginger, the soup was absolutely freezing & far too much ginger, we sent this back and got fresh hot soup. The chicken wings were nice and hot. Our mains took ages to come out and people next to us that came in after us which also had starters got their mains before us. We got 3 beef & 1 chicken. After asking where our food was we were told that they were waiting on the yorkshires. Our food came out, with no yorkshires. The presentation was absolutely horrible, the food was absolutely FREEZING. veg undercooked, the gravy was watery And meat was chewy/ The potatoes were the only hot thing on the plate. The yorkshires came and they were black as they were so burnt, we sent this back and got fresh ones, well the "fresh ones" were absolutely stoned cold. We complained as we we're absolutely disgusted with how bad the food was and the price they were charging for 2 courses would be £26. The staff offered to give us fresh food as we weren't happy and had waited so long, and the yorkshires took a while to come back we were just over the situation and we couldnt see how they could make the food any better. The food they promote on instagram was absolutely NOTHING like it. The staff were great but the food was shocking. For someone coming 30'mins away and wanting to try this place for a while after seeing it ok social media we were very disappointed. We did get the mains taking off the bill, but the over all experience wasn't great. Again the staff were lovely.

I showed up on a Sunday afternoon after a tough morning of traveling mix ups and misunderstanding. I asked for table for one and was told they were full. The look on my face must have said it all because the host said "I have this counter space available if you don't mind." I happily agreed that it was fine. The staff at the Drake, the food, and the atmosphere were all beyond perfect! Thank you so much for turning my day around! I appreciate you all!

I live close to this so use it as a local pub. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The service is always great. In winter the real log fire is a welcome warmer creating a lovely atmosphere. There is a small beer garden area at the rear but it has limited sunlight. Two plates of fish and chips and two glasses of wine came to £40 including the tip. Typical prices for the area, great quality. Would recommend.

Stumbled across this bar looking for a Sunday roast and for shelter from a cold Glasgow winters day.

You enter down a very unassuming set of stairs into this beautiful basement bar/diner. The welcome is warm as is the crackling wood burner installed in the main room, adding to the very comfortable feel to this bar.

The Sunday menu is short yet manages to cover all bases. As does the on-trend wine and drinks list.

We opted to begin with a mixed game terrine and a potted salmon rillette. Both were bang on! Both superbly executed and served with appropriate garnishes. This is comfort food executed perfectly. The game terrine served with great toasted sourdough, cornichons, watercress salad and delicious relish/sauce. Salmon rillette served with a delicious little salad dressed with a vinaigrette that cut perfectly through the rich rillette. Both dishes were sublime.

We both then opted for the Sunday roast. One roast ham and one roast sirloin. Both with all the trimmings of roasted potatoes, roast carrots, buttered cabbage & green beans, Yorkshire pudding and a wee pot of gravy. Simply just delicious.

We opted out of dessert, but it read well. Some of my favourites, profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and sticky toffee pudding, to name two.

Service was attentive, without being overbearing, being asked us if we would like a break between starter and main course is a nice touch.

Not something I would normally mention, but great music playing, at least for my taste. Love hearing music I’m familiar with a wee bit of Blondie, The Clash and Bombskare to name a few familiar musicians playing in the background. Love it!

In a nutshell. Terrific. Highly recommend this bar. We...

This could easily have been fine stars. On a day out in Glasgow I wanted just one thing. A Christmas dinner, Turkey, ham, the trimmings. So when the Drake was recommended we planned around going there. It was quite a bit out of our way, but we thought, it's all good. The server, a stout guy with a beanie and no looked like he could be the cover star for, hipsters that all look the same. One of those servers that resent being a server, the customer isn't always right, kinda guys. Ready to prove that he is a human being and requiring the bare minimum of service or demanding to get what you paid for is to be sneerd at.

Anyway, if not fit the server this might have been a four. Free things that went a righ. Poorly greeted, told to sit at a dirty table, stood where we could not see him when there was a much more central spot, ignored requests, communicated the wrong order, failed to communicate other requests. I'd also have had three courses and had wanted to order this, but as he rushed off before I could finish I just couldn't be bothered and was already aching to get the hell out of there.

Given streak knives, why?

My food was swimming in gravy, had no cauliflower, which my friend did have. And for some reason they felt that mashed potatoes is not a roast staple!!!!! Plus you can't order it separately.

Suffice to say. I'll no...
