For the price that we paid, given that it was not during peak season when there are concerts/events etc. happening so hotels in the area were charging similar prices, I don't feel like this was a hotel worth staying in. But I do want to note, that the front of house staff were very pleasant.
Our stay averaged out to £69 a night, from Tuesday to Friday in September. Our initial opinion of this hotel upon arriving and checking in, was actually relatively positive. The lady at reception was very nice, and gave us a room on a higher floor as requested. The room had a great view, although the shape of the room, being one at a corner made it a bit difficult for us to get around each other as there was only a small gap between the bed and the wall which opens up to the other half of the room.
However, our experience quickly took a turn for the worse. The AC failed to cool down the room, and Glasgow was unfortunately under a heatwave that week. During the night, temperatures averaged at around 28 degrees, while reaching 30-31 degrees throughout the day (we had a temperature sensor with us). The reception noted that the ACs in the hotel has been broken for 20+ years so there is unfortunately nothing that they could do about it, switching rooms would not help. There were two fans in the room which actually made us rather sick as a) it made our throats really dry after having the fan blowing on us the whole night, and b) it made the room dustier than usual which caused both of us to fall ill immediately. There was also gum stuck around the edges of the bedside table which wasn't a great discovery before bed.
We were meant to stay for 4 nights, but honestly couldn't take it after 2 nights. On the 3rd night, we went to reception and asked the lady if we could check out a day earlier and seek a refund for the last night. The lady agreed that having a room reaching temperature levels of 30 degrees was a more than valid reason to get a refund. We happily checked out at 9am the next day, and were told that we'd get a refund within 3-5 business days. We are now at the end of that period, and we have unfortunately not received any emails, messages, or compensation. I revisited the hotel in person 2 times, both times I was told to just keep requesting updates. But nothing else has been done and I've not received any updates about the refund that I was promised even after speaking to the manager James.
In the winter, this might have been a pleasant stay, but based on this experience, I would not...
Read moreDON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT STAYING HERE! AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!
I stayed at this horrible hotel during a business trip to Glasgow for one week. We arrived earlier than the official check in time and were allowed to enter our room. However, despite this, the hotel management later claimed that we never checked in on the first day of our reservation, showing a complete lack of professionalism.
The moment we stepped into the room, we were hit by a disgusting smell. Everything was filthy, sticky, and poorly maintained. There were mucus stains on the walls and filth in the toilet. We immediately informed the reception, and they promised to take care of it no one ever came!
Since we didn’t have time to change hotels, we had to buy cleaning products ourselves and clean the room. We stayed for six nights, and not once did housekeeping show up. They didn’t even take out the trash!
After our stay, I emailed the hotel management with detailed descriptions, photos, and proof of the condition of the room. They initially promised to refund 50% of our payment, but that turned out to be another lie. For weeks, they kept sending excuses like “the refund is on the way,” “you’ll receive it in 3–5 days,” or “within 14 days.” It has now been over two months, and we still haven’t received a single penny.
Their final excuse was that “the manager is on vacation,” which is both pathetic and laughable. So apparently, when the manager goes on holiday, the entire hotel stops functioning!
At this point, there’s no refund and no response. They’ve completely stopped replying to our emails. I have never encountered such an unprofessional, dirty, and disrespectful hotel in my life.
Stay far away from this place! Don’t waste your money, health, or sanity here. We are now pursuing legal action, and we will be sharing all photos, emails, and evidence with the relevant...
Read moreUnsafe, Unprofessional, and Discriminatory – Avoid at All Costs My stay at the Britannia Inn in Glasgow was a horrifying experience, and I strongly advise against staying here. Not only was the service appalling and unsafe, but the treatment I received also felt deeply discriminatory and racist.
First, the lift broke down while I was inside. I was trapped for over 10–15 minutes, pressing the emergency alarm with no response from staff. This was a terrifying experience, and I suffered a panic attack due to the lack of help. The hotel clearly lacks proper safety measures and concern for their guests’ well-being.
Secondly, after extending my stay by two days, I returned to find my belongings had been carelessly thrown away without any attempt to notify me. My nightdress and other personal items were missing, including snacks, water, and makeup products. Some items were thrown in the bin, but my nightdress was not even found. When I asked the staff about this, they laughed at me both in person and over the phone. This response was not only unprofessional but felt dismissive and offensive.
When I tried to escalate the issue, I was told to speak to the manager. However, I was repeatedly given excuses such as the manager being on holiday or ill, making it impossible to get any resolution. This lack of accountability shows how little the hotel cares about its guests.
What made the experience worse was the discriminatory attitude of the staff. They were dismissive, unhelpful, and their behavior towards me felt rooted in racism. Despite having my contact details, they failed to communicate about the situation and instead treated my concerns with complete disrespect.
This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a hotel. It’s unsafe, unprofessional, and discriminatory. I will never return and strongly recommend others to avoid...
