Visited with a group of family and friends (five of us)
When we came to pay the bill we didn't want to split it but instead pay for what each of us had had individually.
After half of us had paid it was noticed by us that we'd been over charged.
It's hard to be certain, but I'm pretty sure I was shown '£28.50' written down but when I checked my receipt the transaction had been put through at £48.50.
Upon querying this with the gentleman working the bill out and taking payments he said that he'd "made a mistake and forgotten to apply the Wednesday 50% discount" which I found to be a strange mistake to make considering he should have been applying this 50% off to every bill he worked out that particular night? He then went on to suggest it was our fault because we were paying individually which wasn't very fair or polite given the situation. He refunded us but with cash and not on to cards on which we had paid.
After we had all had our refunds for the over charged amounts the gentleman then said that there was £4.80 still unaccounted for. I asked him to detail for us exactly what items he believed were outstanding which he could not do and so this wasn't pursued any further, I wonder how he arrived at the belief that we owed them yet more money?
I have heard similar stories in the past about "questionable arithmetic" which always seems to benefit the house and commonly these scenarios seem to happen when there's a larger group of diners.
If dining here I highly recommend that you keep note of how much the bill should be and double checking this before paying and ask for clarification if you believe the amount is incorrect.
For me personally I will not be returning, I would rather use one of the other 2 Indian Restaurants in town which also offer good quality food but without the same need for diligence over the amounts...
Read moreAfter phoning the restaurant to ask about order delivery, I was advised to place my order on their website for delivery via, "Delivery shark" (Zoom) ordered placed with an estimate of 45 minutes? One hour passed when i got a phone call asking if i mind waiting up to another 30 minutes? I reluctantly agreed to this, 2 hours passed and still no delivery so i phoned red mango to find out what was going on? And they blamed the delivery driver? Informing me that my food had been my food had been sat ready for almost one hour! I was a bit upset by this, as food thats been sat for a long time under a heat lamp is not good! So i asked to cancel my order? I'm then informed it cant be done & i must contact the delivery company direct :( Even though i ordered through red mangos website? So i did try this but the delivery company were an even bigger nightmare than the restaurant themselves, Cant find your order? Dont know how to issue refunds? etc, etc?
So i told them i will be submitting a complaint with trading standards and making a chargeback with my bank to recover my money after this nightmare! two hours 30 minutes after placing my order, it arrives in a private taxi?
Having to refuse this food that's been sat at least 2 hours and the taxi driver not feeling to impressed with me? Even though i told him i had cancelled the order for being so late.
Very unpleasant experience & very disappointed not to have received what i believed i was paying for, including the £5...
Read moreHeard reasonably good local reviews so decided to try it out. Whilst waiting to be seated we witnessed a young man being told the reason his takeaway food wasn't prepared was because he'd phoned the wrong Indian as he'd got the number off the Internet. He only got an apology once he showed the number he'd called on his mobile. Food was quite nice although portions were a little small. Service was really slow and it was only about half full. I popped to the toilet whilst waiting for food and was shocked to see the store room for pots and pans was in the toilet and the door left open, what a mess!! I popped back in before leaving and the door was now closed and held closed by a wedge. Won't be...
