The Black Boy — Restaurant in Wales

I've had three so terrible experience at the black boy it's put me off wetherspoons as a whole. First time I went we got forgot about outside by the waitress who had asked us to sit outside, did we get apologized too after waiting 30 minutes for seats inside, no, instead she said there was no seats available, which with my eyes which clearly this waitress was lacking I could see a table free. Came back a month later thinking the experience was a anomaly but no, first we we're told not to order just sides(as we we're drinking we didn't want full meals) because it was a waste of time for the kitchen, which i hope is just lazy kitchen staff and not done on advice from managers, later in the sitting we were told by a manger he had to take all our drinks because a one mate who didn't have ID(because he had forgotten it) had supposedly drank one of our drinks, which they hadn't, after the drinks had been taken I went to the counter asking for the manger, who happened to be the man who had taken our drinks, after I said we had paid for those drinks so we deserve the right to drink them, he offered to refund our drinks, which took me back even more, because he's the manger he should of offered us a refund in the first place... All this is shown me is the only way to get anything from this place is to continuously...

This is my go to restaurant for a coffee, breakfast, or evening meal out. I can't get over the quality of food for what I pay for it; the pizzas, curries, and steaks in particular rival if not better the ones I've had in far more expensive restaurants and typically range between £8-£11 in price with a cold drink thrown in. The breakfasts are out of this world, although I'm not vegetarian or vegan, the vegan breakfast has completely won me over..for only £2.99! The staff are super friendly. They treat the staff well, are very engaging, and in the very rare occasions I've been unhappy with a dish, they have been extremely apologetic. They are extremely hard working, have a very positive work ethic, and always find time to answer any queries. The venue is very family friendly, and a lovely place to meet with friends. My only criticism would be that the tables are not always cleaned instantly, and are often left looking a little dirty; however for a restaurant that is very short staffed , they do an incredible job and the advantages really make up for where the cleaning service is perhaps a little slow. For the sake of the food quality, and the atmosphere it is really worth a visit. Very affordable, and almost always a wonderful...

After eating here a while back, we were passing through and dicided to call in for a quick meal. They had a lot of items out of stock on the menu so decided to have 3 steaks with sauce and all the trimmings. We ordered them all med-rare, they didn't have the peppercorn sauce that was supposed to come with it but offered us a Jack Daniels honey sauce instead. Staff that served us at the bar were friendly and helpful enough. When the steaks arrived, 2 of them were well done, with a little pink where the steak was thicker, when the server asked if everything was ok we pointed out that the steaks we're overcooked her response was "oh is it" with no apology of offer to put it right, when shown the steaks she just said "so it is" and kind of shrugged her shoulders, nothing more was said and she left us to our dry over cooked steaks. If we'd had more time we would of complained further at the time however we didn't and won't be back...
