Found this little gem by accident whilst my son was at a workshop. I was pleased to see there was an online presence so I could check it out first (not sure if that’s a modern technology thing or a ā€˜me’ thing but I like to get a feel for a place before talking to actual people) I was pleasantly surprised to find the garden far larger than the courtyard I’d imagined. Staff were laid back but attentive, friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic. Beans, hash browns and sausages were hot and stayed hot. I had a pot of Earl Grey tea with soya milk. When I asked for vegan sausages I was asked if I’d like my breakfast cooked in oil rather than butter which I found most thoughtful. An extra plate was kindly offered for my little one so he could share my breakfast. The garden was beautiful and had lots of shaded areas. Plenty of toys to keep small toddlers happy. Masses of lavender. I probably wouldn’t bring my older children because the space is limited and the cafĆ© opens out onto a road - perhaps a child and dog safe gate may change my mind...or perhaps I will always worry about these things having a large family with additional needs. No matter - time to kill became a few pages of my book read and an enjoyable relaxed meal in the sunshine. A rare treat. Would recommend and will...

Just been for afternoon tea at this cosy and delightful place. The food was delicious and plentiful. We were greeted with politeness and warmth. This continued throughout our meal. Service was very attentive but not intrusive. Our baby was well catered for with a high chair and space thanks largely to the lovely secret garden. We couldn't finish it all (as much as we wanted to) and we were provided with boxes to take our remainders. I would recommend this little gem hidden away in...

WOW, me and my partner stumbled across this little gem on our long walk from Burgess Hill to Brighton and decided to stop for a coffee. We were welcomed by two lovely ladies - the homemade cakes / sussage rolls at the counter looks so beautiful we could not resist. Both the coffees and treats were lovely. We are looking forward to going back once the weather improves to have a full breakfast and enjoy the beautiful garden! Would recommend this place in...

The Secret Garden Mel and her girls work very hard to produce beautiful, delicious breakfasts but in addition to that, wonderful sausage rolls, triple chocolate brownies and millionaire’s slices, plus other delicious cakes. These are all homemade by them. All this is accomplished in a small kitchen. The ā€˜Secret Garden’ out the back of the cafe is large with plenty of space - Mel has put heaters in for the winter months. Do go along to try The Secret Garden!

Fabulous! My walking group arrived as the delightful lady running it was about to close, nonetheless, she immediately welcomed us in. Superb service, magnificent cakes and even refills to the tea pots were offered in a wonderful secret garden. I really can't praise this place highly enough; a huge thank you from a group who had just completed a long walk; you made it a perfect end to the day.

What a gem. The staff are so friendly and the decor inside out is fresh and modern but quaint and inviting at the same time. They are very dog friendly which is a must for me and my cavapoo - Tilly. The secret garden outside is fantastic much bigger than I expected and gorgeous. I'm coming back to try one of their afternoon teas.
