As regulars to Newquay, we were excited on our last visit to discover a new Asian restaurant open. What made it more so because they are dog friendly. The menu looked nice so we thought we'd give it a go as Asian food is our favourite. We would have liked have seen more smaller dishes ie Thai fish cakes as there were rather a lot. They were not like any Thai fish cake I'd ever had before, they were quite strong. Goyza dumplings were lovely. Bao buns OK. The Thai green curry had run out which we thought odd as if cooking from fresh it's easy to rustle on up if you have the ingredients. The Udon beef noodles were mediocre, nice a fresh but quite watery and incredibly sweet. The Karaage chicken curry was quite bland and was served onto the rice which had absorbed the sauce and was quite stodgy. Everything needed a little more oomph and seasoning. Some chilli pots on the table would be nice. I asked for some prik nam pla (chilli I fish sauce) as this would have come with the green curry, and the lady didn't know what it was until I pointed it out. We got something which was not remotely spicy. Admittedly we did order a lot of food for two of us as we have hearty appetites and we like to have a starter. You could tell the food was incredibly fresh, however, even with two cans of lager, £75 is definitely London priced and a bit steep as there's no table service. It was pleasant enough but underwhelming. Would we go back? Probably not, but we wish them well, so for...
Read moreAs this was my favorite restaurant in Newquay, I feel compelled to leave this review as feedback for the restaurant. We visited 12/8 as a family of 3 and had an experience verging on bizarre. We had to ask for menus which took a while and when we were given them we were told there was a 30 minute wait for food; which was absolutely fine. What wasn't okay was after waiting some considerable time (without even being offered drinks) we had to stop the waitress to ask if we could order and be told she wasn't sure and she would check if it was okay to order? Eventually, and I mean eventually, she came back and said we could order but only drinks and sushi and couldn't order any mains yet? So hungry we ordered sushi and when this came to the table said that she couldn't take the main order as the kitchen was busy and she had to figure out if there was other orders ahead of ours and would 'come back when it was our turn' - we never saw this member of staff again. What later became apparent was that other tables seated after ours had eaten meals and left before we'd even been able to properly order. A while later a different waitress took away the plates and when told we hadn't ordered mains yet happily took our mains order without question... The food was great, but honestly spoiled by the hour and half exasperating wait.
To be honest despite the fact we actively seek out this restaurant every time we're in Newquay I would be reluctant to go back based on our...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant without a booking and were really pleased they managed to accommodate us. There was a bit of confusion while we waited for a table outside, which led to a slight delay in ordering, just one of those things really, but the staff were lovely about it and very apologetic. They even brought us some complimentary teriyaki chicken maki to make up for the mix-up, which was absolutely delicious.
We ordered the chicken and vegetable gyoza dumplings, and both my wife and I agreed they were probably the nicest gyoza we’ve had in a very long time. We also had the beef stickless yakitori and chicken udon noodles, both really tasty and well cooked. But the absolute standout dish for me was the pulled pork roti taco, it was amazing. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it again.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, and really accommodating throughout. The restaurant itself isn’t huge, but it’s a cosy space with a nice atmosphere, and the location is very central. Even with lots of small plates, everything worked well.
I honestly can’t recommend this place...
