Decided to go here for a meal this lunchtime, for the first time ever. (I've always gone to the other pub/restaurant nearer the main road.) I was able to park right outside for my elderly uncle to get in without too much difficulty! We ordered drinks which we got immediately and food a few minutes later. I chose the Minted lamb hotpot with mashed potatoes and melted cheese on top and my uncle chose the hadock and chips. We chatted for just a few minutes in this lovely old pub before being served with our meals. They were absolutely delicious! There was a load of succulent, slow cooked lamb with vegetables in a gorgeous gravy under the mash and cheese. Alongside was a half crusty sub roll with butter. I should have taken a photo but my bowl was nearly empty before I remembered! My uncle said his fish tasted really fresh and his chunky chips seemed like homemade! We will be back! As we were going out I remembered I'd forgotten to pay for the meal so I got my uncle to sit down on a picnic bench and went back in just in time to catch the barmaid coming to chase after us! We couldn't do a runner after a meal that good!!! (We can't run anyway, he's 87...

Mixed bag really nice area by the sea nice lounge and homely feel. Husband and son had lovely food, seafood platter and burger - both thoroughly enjoyed, nice presentation and side salad. Visited the area many times and this pub is always do busy so thought we would try it.

Lunchtime rush means orders take about 40 minutes to come out of the kitchen.

After such a long wait, I am hungry and expecting something nice. Jamaican Curry with pineapple rice was inedible due to the very overpowering burnt stench all through the rice. I never take things back but this was disgusting so approached the waitress. I didn't like her bad attitude when I tried to explain, she appeared uninterested in what I had to say.

The smell and taste put me right off and despite saying 4 times I did not want a replacement, felt forced into accepting yet another load of the same food. Was meant to be boiled rice this time but although the burnt smell was a lot less it was still there.

Very overpriced too, it's no better than standard bar food but menu prices do not reflect the quality of what you get served.

Only my opinion but as honest as I am I would return but not...

We came today around 4pm for a bite to eat and were told off for trying to sit at an un reserved table.

The waitress was rude and instead of just saying I’m so sorry but I’ll seat you somewhere else she just walked off.

We then didn’t know where to sit and were awkwardly walking around. Another lady then told us where we were ‘allowed’ to sit lol but said abruptly they’d need it back by 6pm. It seemed they were more bothered about their reserved tables than serving the customers they had there and then with respect…

There wasn’t any healthy choices on the menu…

And when we did order food it didn’t arrive for 40 minutes!

The staff behind the bar were very loud during the whole time we were here.

Food was tasteless, I got the Cajun cod and you absolutely cannot taste any Cajun in there. My partner got a wrap which was slapped on the plate upside down and when he picked it up to eat the sauce had gone everywhere from it being face down and then was very messy to eat… he said it had no taste.

Chips too crispy like they’d been over fried and overall just an awful dining...

Amazing food! Great service. Brilliant pub. The starter, Asian style pork belly with chilli and scallions was amazing. I drank the sauce like a broth, the best starter I've ever had. It was outstanding and was tempted to order it again for a main course. Prawn cocktail was tip top and it was nice to see someone make an effort and take some care with it as it totally paid off. Pie of the day was Steak, onion and mushroom in an ale gravy. I'm not a fan of a puff pastry lid but it did the job and the amount of pastry was brilliant. The pie was delicious and full to the brim. The beef Baguette was star of the mains. Best roast beef I've ever eaten and the baguette was perfect. Gravy is sensational. Thick and full of flavour. The chips were perfect. When I think of pub chips, that's it. Dark, crispy edges and soft and fluffy in the middle. Kids chicken bites with chips were a good size for a kids meal. Fresh and tasty. Onion rings were lush, crispy batter and a good portion. Best pub meal I've had for a long time. The staff were brilliant!

Packed out pub on a Sunday afternoon. Only seating was in smoking area outside or facing onto the road not ideal with children or for eating however we made the choice to stay. Food service was painfully slow with items no longer available. This would have been acceptable if ok when they did arrive. I ordered leak pie which came with a burnt pastry top and a very salty filling. Getting served inside you could tell the staff were under pressure and run off their feet. There was probably more demand than they expected but there must be some of way of flexing the number of dining only tables to not get so overwhelmed. I was also surprised that they didn't make more of the harbour views. The back smoking area was a six foot high fence which seemed a strange choice for its location. I don't think we would eat here again given a choice.
