We’ve been going to the Warren a lot recently but genuinely will not be going back. The first roast dinner I had was missing the stuffing and roast potatoes. It made the plate looked very sparse. I didn’t mention it to the pub as they were busy. We have frequented them a lot and most of the time you do not receive everything you pay for. A week later I paid extra for the bigger roast dinner.. it was missing all 3 Yorkies and the stuffing. I had 4 potato’s even though my partner had about 10 served with his burger. Very inconsistent. When questioned the waitress shrugged it off and said they were out of stock. No apology, no offer of something else.. she just didn’t care. Even though it was only 3pm on a Sunday, surely you can’t serve half a plate of food to everyone else coming in for Sunday lunch/ dinner? Sometimes the chicken we have is cooked to perfection, sometimes it’s slightly raw.. today my partner didn’t get the 2 onion rings until prompted and they were bought out after his meal was finished on their own which looked ridiculous. The waiter didn’t know which coke was which. I ordered chips with gravy on this side. As in, a SIDE. the gravy was poured on the chips. But only a tiny bit, not what I would have gotten if it was served as a side which was dearer than the “chips and gravy” option. It always feels like they are understaffed and one night it took 50 minutes for 1 drink to come. They also served us food without drinks one night and we had to ask for them again. Overall, reading the menu makes everything sound nice and tasty, but it is never consistent. The meal is very often missing parts or it looks completely different from the other persons identical dish. My partner said the steak was very tasteless and felt reheated. It was also not served medium rare as requested, it was well done. Once the waitress was even discussing with customers whether she could lend them a rizla and if a customer on a nearby table was fat or not. It’s just a complete mess and I will not...
Read moreMy work colleagues had planned a lunch time get together after training and decided to frequent The Warren on Friday. Some arrived at 11.30, others at 12.15. We were greeted initially by Luke, the assistant manager. Luke cut my colleague short whist ordering a drink to discuss whether or not a waitress should be on shift or not. We were then told we could not have any fizzy drinks on tap due to a gas leak. There was no fruit available, lemon or lime, for the drinks we had chosen. There were no bottles of Diet Coke. There was no guacamole for my colleague’s nachos and there was an excess of salsa covering the nachos. A colleague requested gluten free bread for her sandwich, which was not available. Some of the cuttlery was dirty. The waitress did bring us some more. A medium rare steak was presented well done, this was returned. Sausage and mash was dry and the mash tasted fake. The burger was over cooked and was not eaten. By this stage we were all totally fed up. The last waitress that came to clear our table asked if we had enjoyed our food. My response was “to look at the amount of waste”. She did mention to speak to the manager, but a colleague had tried to speak to Luke, but was told he was out the back, sorting the gas. Good customer service, not. I told the waitress I would write my own review. Luke did speak to my colleague eventually when she went to the bar, did apologise, but said he didn’t sabotage the gas leak. Again, good customer service, not. However, he did offer a complimentary drink to my colleagues and two complimentary desserts. This episode was not what we had expected from such a usually busy, popular pub, especially a Hungry Horse franchise. I expected better customer service and food presentation. I would appreciate a response from one of the Hungry Horse...
Read moreLovely pub! It has definitely had an upgrade inside compared to recent years. Hadn't been in a while but pleased with the layout, design and space. The pub is seperated into 2 parts, the dining side and the pub side (drinks only). There are toilets, 3 game machines inside, indoor and outdoor seating and an outside play area which could do with an upgrade. On the bar side there are TV's and a pool table. Food is good, there's a nice selection, it always comes out together and is good value for money. It's never hot though and you can tell it's not made fresh. Steak on the mega mixed grill was chewy. Staff can be helpful and polite but seemed a bit unorganised and took a while to serve or speak to us even though it wasn't busy. I don't think we've ever been greeted when we enter or seen to right away even if there's only 1 person at the bar. I like the idea of the sauce station but it needs to be sign posted along with the cutlery as no-one told us we had to collect our own. (In the past they would bring a bucket of cutlery to your table before your food arrived). Overall it's a nice place to eat out and drink prices are pretty good. There's deals throughout the week and it's easy to book a...
