You Want Beef Derby — Restaurant in Great Britain

My sister and I recently visited You Want Dessert, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing.

I was really looking forward to trying their ice cream on a nice hot summers day, but what we were served was far from acceptable! My sister ordered the chocolate flavour, and it was clearly scraped from the bottom of an old tub (refer to the photo). The texture was unpleasant, curdled, hard, and oddly chewy, as though it had been sitting there for ages. It was nothing like fresh ice cream should be. When she politely asked if she could have a scoop from a fresh tub instead, the staff flatly refused. It felt dismissive and unprofessional.

I ordered the strawberry cheesecake flavour, and the portion size was frankly shocking (photo attached). I’m not exaggerating when I say it looked like a single teaspoon. For the price they’re charging, I expected something far more generous and of higher quality. He didn’t even try to scoop properly, just scraped a bit off the top of the ice cream and put it in the cup. Their staff clearly have not been trained properly, I didn’t think scooping ice cream would be that hard, they need to be re trained as I believe many people will be ordering ice cream now that we’ve reached summer.

I really wanted to ask for more ice cream but simply couldn’t due to the shock of him refusing to give ice cream from a fresh container to my sister, and the shock of how small the “scoop” was. We left feeling ripped off and let down. It’s certainly not worth the hype or the money, and we won’t be returning.

To top it all off, shortly after my sister posted an honest review, a flood of suspiciously positive reviews appeared- clearly from fake accounts. It’s really dishonest behaviour, and customers...

Very welcoming young man on the door when we entered. Told us about their new menu and allowed us to choose where we wanted to sit. The menu is quite extensive with lots to choose from. Suitable for those wanting a full on burger meal or simply in the mood for sweets or dessert. We have visited this spot 3 times before and the staff have always been welcoming which is a definite 👍🏾 The beefed-up fries tasted great and the standard has been consistently high each time we have visited. The waffles were made fresh and the ice cream tasted creamy and smooth. Always lots of variety when it comesto toppings on the create your own. The cocktails tasted great and the cola they stock was a pleasant surprise with how well it complimented the food. The kids and I will definitely be visiting again....very good value for money and always clean when we have visited.
