Smile Cafe — Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

We have been going to the Gorleston cafe for ages and the food is good value and it has a pleasant atmosphere however it's getting worse. Requesting hot food around 1.30 is met with anger and irritation from the staff who always say "We finish hot food soon!" - "this includes soup. To avoid a clash we instead ask for snack items like sausage rolls and sandwiches but these are often sold out or they refuse to prepare more sandwiches "to avoid waste"! This is lunch time on Saturdays and should be a peak time for service. The attitude of the staff is genuine anger that we are asking for food at 1.30 and they are extremely unhelpful. We used to enjoy going here and liked the food and the cafes in Cherry Tree and Lathams are genuinely helpful if they are out of stock of an item but we are fed up being met with such...

I have been coming here for several months. I live locally and sometimes attend with client whom I support. All staff are wonderful, cannot help you enough! Genuinely warm and welcoming environment. Great selection of cooked food and cold, lots of tables to choose from. Toilets are always clean with disabled loo also. Breakfast available til 11, good choice of small/ regular/ choose your own/ vegan etc.Only thing to be aware of, is that it can get busy, best to ask staff what times are busy, as some locals come and meet in small groups. This Cafe isn’t the best I’ve ever been to . We got there and we looked at the menus . They are held together by a hair band and they are covered in stains and are sticky . The floor had crumbs all over it . The light shades were old fashioned . We ordered our food ( sausage sandwich ) and we waited about half an hour even though there was nobody in the cafe . They said they forgot about our order . Once the food finally got here it was amazing . The staff were nice . The toilets weren’t very nice as they were old and dingy . The food was nice but the cafe wasn’t very good . The tables were clean . It wasn’t the worst cafe but not the best . Can’t fault the staff as they were lovely and sorry about...
