It is not the fault of the Caffi Castell that a man with a walkitalki greets you at the entrance and talks through to the lady at food counter, to ask if seating available. It's just the covid requirements for entry. There is a strict one way system once inside (use the wc as you enter as you can't go there once inside and seated.. No retracing steps!) Order food at the counter and go to your allocated seat/table to await your food, which arrives in box and cardboard cup. No lovely China serving which this place is known for. I was given a seat outside with lovely view of the castle. Bacon and brie toastie came with salad and coleslaw in its box and was very good. Earl gray tea in cardboard cup. The staff were all very friendly and sympathetic of the government restrictions they are having to abide by. Apart from roped off access areas to the Caffi and Castle grounds, the system worked efficiently so full marks to them all. A firm NO followed, in case people wanted to use them! Even though 2 people sat at a table with 4 chairs and several dog owners were standing outside waiting! Several Customers moved on elsewhere, lost income for the Castle. To add to that a party of 3 had eaten their meal, the waitress cleared their table and they sat enjoying the sunshine at the empty table for a further 20 minutes and were not asked to move by staff!! Read moreThe Harlech castle cafe is located at visitor's centre just on the way out to the castle on the right hand side.
It is great place for a quick bite with good selection of home made cakes, breakfast, lunch menus and veriery of hot and cold drinks.
The food there is delicious, the views through the windows are beautiful and atmosphere so homely.
The staff is very polite and friendly.
Unfortunately no dogs allowed in the cafe, only on the terrace.
Also, maximum 4 people per table.
The place is very covid aware.
Pay & display car park is just outside of the visitor centre...
