I wanted to take out for dinner friends who live away, we’re relatively new to the area ourselves so not had chance to dine out much. I stumbled across this place on Google Maps, read the reviews and thought let’s give it a try! It turned out to be a great decision 😋.
Like everyone else this was our first time at a restaurant of this kind, our greeter asked this and so helped us through the menu. To be honest it’s mostly fairly explanatory but good to have someone assist. They are keen to take you out if your comfort zone tempting you by prawn and fish if you suggest you have Chicken usually, for example! We began with x4 starters to share between the four of us, this was good as it allowed us to sample different dishes. They were all delicious. The gentleman also discussed mains with us, mainly focusing on meat choice and heat. Once he had an idea of our tastes he declared our dishes would be chosen by him, with it taken out of our hands!! This is the first time any of us had let the waiter decided upon our choices 🫣🤣. However, as I say I’d read previous reviews who had mentioned this so I assured my friends this style normally works out with customers! I’m pleased to say our mains were fantastic 👌🏼. Really nice food, expertly cooked from scratch or as near as damn it from a commercial point of view! One thing I would say, is it would of been nice to if known which each dish was called….. because we have no idea! (A different guy served us).
The bill came to £121 for the four of us, which works out about £30 a head for a drink, starter and main. Not cheap, but perfectly reasonable in this current financial uncertainty.
We were the first ones in the restaurant at about 5:50 on a Saturday evening (I had booked), within an hour it was full. That says a lot.
Opening times on Google state 5:30, on the restaurant door it say’s 6pm! A little confusing, something maybe they...
Read moreWe had fond memories of this gem of a restaurant from when we moved away in 2004. On our return last week to celebrate my wife's niece's 21st we were treated to an outstanding meal. We were looked after by the delightful Suman who came up with helpful suggestions for all our orders. The menu offers lovely, delicate and refined flavours such as the Kukuhara Bhutuwa (Chicken cooked in coriander and onion sauce, ginger, garlic and fresh ground spices). Some of us were not particularly keen on lamb but the recommended Sadeko Khasi (lamb cooked over charcoal with Nepalese spices and chillies) was next-level and definitely worth a try! Before the mains, Suman produced a beautiful card with a hand-drawn caricature of Elizabeth - which was an amazing touch - and then after the mains, when bringing her a celebration cake, made a sign with her name so the whole restaurant could join in with 'Happy Birthday'. He looked after my party with just the right level of attention and the atmosphere was super with gentle background music providing an authentic ambience. If you're looking for a curry with a refreshing difference with a superb owner - this is the...
Read moreI discovered this place by accident whilst away with work and so glad I did.
Straight away impression was good as we were greeted at the door by a very happy and polite member of staff.
When it came to ordering the initial waiter we had was very funny and was making conversation and going back and forth with all members of the group which we all loved, it's nice to have some banter with the staff. He then explained a few things from the menu and said if we needed recommendations, he would help.
Told him the spice tolerance and let him pick for me, he done a wonderful job of describing the dishes he was picking. The other 7 people in my party see this and then trusted him to do the same for them. He made great choices and everyone commented how good the food was and how much they enjoyed it.
We spent £291 for 8 people, all had starters and multiple drinks so i think the pricing is very very reasonable. All the staff we interacted with were very polite and happy which also makes the experience. Be warned it gets busy, best to book a table.
Have a week left here for work and my colleagues already talking about coming back one last time....
