The Fox & Hounds — Restaurant in Hart

This was our second visit to the pub. Our first was so delightful we decided to go back for lunch. Unfortunately this visit was a complete disappointment, the lady behind the bar was extremely rude. I ordered cider and actually got larger in a cider glass, (which they grudgingly exchanged) And the food was awful. I accept the fact that we ordered the food just before the kitchen closed, but there was no excuse for the poor quality of what they served us. The salad on my Wife's plate consisted of huge amount of some sort of green leaves one cherry tomato and few pieces of red onion . This was a total contrast to the delicious and beautifully presented food we had on our first visit. When ask how the food was at the end of our meal the rude bar lady simply looked at the salad and took it away. The most surprising thing is that when we first visited it was a very busy Sunday afternoon. Our second visit was on a relatively quiet Tuesday. We will go back for another visit because we feel sure that we simply caught them...

We turned up at 12 on a Saturday, without having booked. We had looked on their web page and no mention that this was needed because of COVID, but we had not thought about it just being popular. Thankfully we were lucky, they still had a single table left. They were booked out for the Sunday after. The staff were great, helpful attentive but not overbearing. The food was superb, clearly made by them, and cooked to order, and cooked well. The portions were very generous, I pretty much skipped dinner that day, and well priced. We will certainly be going back, the specials on the board looked interesting and different to the menu. As first time visitors we tried pub menu stalwarts, beer battered fish and chips, steak and ale pie, but also something a little different, a halloumi burger. Very pleased with all of them. Next time we might try the specials, sounds like they are different, so try them while you can, they may not be back, at least...

Very bad customer service. I asked for table for two. Waitress told us there is one table available, the table was very small and uncomfortable basically is was a table for drinks only where you can fit two glasses we were there for food. Next to our table there was another table available which is more for food. I wanted to ask waitresses if we can sit there but then I thought if it was available she would have given to us, 2 mins later, same waitress took her food table next to us which was more like dinner table and having a food there. Basically what she did, telling us there is no table available and in actuality there was one available and made us sit on a table for one, and right beside us she was sitting alone on table for two and having her meal. I find this very Rude. That for the sake of herself she gave the customer table for one. Never seen customer service like this. Also found the hair after...
