Really disappointing.
We ordered to start the fried chicken and fried gyoza. The gyoza was burnt and we should have sent it back, but could not believe that they let it leave the kitchen and then the lady serving put them on the table when they were clearly burnt. I peeked through the curtains and saw 3 very young and clearly inexperience chiefs (I’m being kind referring to them as chiefs). On to the chicken, which was dry, tough and slightly over cooked. I cook far better at home with panko bread crumbs, it’s not difficult.
For the main I had the soba noodles with tofu. My wife had rice with salmon. My noodles were dry, obviously they had been pre cooked and then fried when required. But the noodles had clumped together when fried and so had become tough. Also the portion of noodles was very small, but maybe that was a blessing. My wife’s salmon with rice was ok but the salmon was so stingy, I’ve never seen a salmon fillet that tiny.
And with two beers each, that came to £62.00.
We will not be returning. Go to Heist across the road and get much...

Beauty authentic Japanese restaurant in the heart of St. Leonards.
We're ex-Londoners moved to St. Leonards - this is the second time my wife and I have been here, the food is so fresh, very tasty and beautifully served. Superb Sake and Japanese whiskey menu too.
The owner is adorable! Very sweet and friendly and loves to chat (only if you want to). Both times we have been the last to leave but have never felt pressured to hurry - quite the opposite, very relaxed family atmosphere here. Service is always very attentive and respectful.
Great playlist also - lots of old jazz, swing and crooner greats on shuffle but all background so you can still talk.

Read moreDelicious and authentic tasting Japanese food, the food tasted better than from most of the restaurants in central London. The staff and service was excellent, and the price was very reasonable for the generous portions of food provided.
I had the chicken teriyaki with rice which is my baseline to compare Japanese restaurants, and this did not disappoint. Rice was perfectly cooked, chicken was grilled and seasoned wonderfully as it was not salty like the stuff from chain restaurants. Then proceeded to devour the delicate chicken udon miso soup. The miso was well balanced and not super salty like the cheap restaurants elsewhere.
Staff and service was excellent, highly...
