An absolutely outstanding pub!

I recently had the opportunity to attend a private event hosted in this incredible place, and what an amazing time it was! I moved over from the States to Suffolk about 5 months back, so I am still exploring England and its pubs. We had the luck to enjoy the Stag Inn on a recent trip to Hastings to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday. I loved the way they handed out drink coupons for party guests to get us started. I need a bit of a nudge as I'm not much of a drinker, so sidling up to the bar and picking out something I know I'll like is vastly preferable to a tub of beers on ice or house wine.

The atmosphere was fun and festive, the decor and artifacts on the walls were incredibly cool, and the patio was so warm and welcoming with blankets and a nice cosy private space out back. The landlord and landlady of the pub were also super kind and hospitable to our family including our dog who loved hanging out in the pub all day.

This is absolutely in the top tier of pubs I have visited since moving over to England this summer. I really love the ones with rich history and fascinating artifacts, especially when they come with kind and attentive service and a comfortable atmosphere. This ticks all the boxes and made for a memorable weekend away for our whole family, furbaby included.

What an awesome venue to hire...

This place is exquisite from walking through the door, being greeted by a wonderful team to leaving was an amazing experience.

'Sorry chef has been kidnapped!'

Wow this man is not only a happy man and fun to chat to, he is absolutely incredible, the food is outstandingly fantastic. This chef will achieve a Michelin in the not so distant future.

We had the most fun in the most beautiful Pub in Hastings and surrounding area. A perfect night in a Pub steeped in History. A total joy. I almost wish I haven't shared this jewel because for sure you will go and I won't get a table. But you have to go and explore, experience, enjoy. Oh and remember to step out into the terraced garden while you are there.

This is by far the best pub ever. Please feel free to prove me wrong, I very much doubt it!

After more than10 years since our last unimpressive visit, we returned on discovering that new management have taken over. And what a fantastic decision it was! We came for Sunday lunch, and had the pork dish and chicken supreme main meals which were absolutely top notch. The caramelised brussel sprouts with bacon on toast as a starter is filling and utterly divine! The portions were really generous too and we left absolutely stuffed! The staff there are really lovely, and so welcoming, and the pub itself is cosy, warm with a lot of history attached to it. It's really difficult to find Sunday roast chicken dishes locally around Hastings, so we scored bingo at The Stag.. This is going to be our local Sunday roast venue from now on, and we wish the new management every success. Keep doing what you're doing! We'll...

This is one of Hastings's classic old pubs situated near to All Saint's Church at the end of All Saint's St. The interior is full of old wood, creaking floorboards and exterior there is a beautiful three level garden at the back with apple and pear trees and lots of seating. I've been coming here for over 15 years when on holiday in Hastings and has changed management a few times. The ale is at the pricier end being a Shepherd Naeme tenanted pub. I was super pleased the food hasn't suffered under the new management and actually has maintained the excellent standard. As a seafood lover, there are always 2 or 3 amazing options - we had the baked cod and mackerel fillet options, both were delicious and I'd highly recommend. Card is taken and evening food service begins at 6pm. There is live music on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
