This is a find! It's the find of a decade!! That Aamcha has had its doors open for the last 8 years was a surprise considering that we work just 20 mins away in Watford and are always looking for great Indian food. First of all - This is the most authentic Indian menu I have seen in a long long time outside of London. It's not Bangladeshi and Pakistani versions masquerading as Indian and care has been taken to bring in items from pan India. We had the chilli chicken and crispy okra for starters, the chicken was excellent and as we get in India the indo Chinese bastardized version but done fabulously well. The crispy okra was off the charts! It was light and crispy, absolutely perfect and just as it should be. Spice was even and and the batter was cooked to perfection. For the mains we went with the Champaran mutton in a clay pot - with bones and it was the best surprise of the evening. Delectable and cooked to a soft and falling off the bone the Champaran curry was delicious. We went for the Chicken curry in a home cooked gravy instead of the butter chicken and that was fantastic as well. The accompanying naans and dessert later topped off what was a very very good dinner with friends! Highly recommended and the best part is the prices are way way way lower than what I would expect a restaurant serving this quality of food to have. So go there as soon as you can before they bump up...
Read moreHad a fantastic night here with a friend. Decided to go all out with the lamb chops and chicken wings for starters. The lamb chops were flavoursome and some of the best I've ever eaten. They were sooo soft and had just the right amount of flavour too. If only they served these as a main course for dinner! The cocktails were also fantastic and I highly recommend the Ginger Mania and Coco Exotica, both served fresh with the right amount of ice and amazing refreshing flavours. My main of a generous Saag Lamb was also fantastic and very filling - how they get that super deep rich green colour from the spinach is beyond me but it looked very appetising too. The side of Paneer Masala also very good but could have had more. To top off the main the Peshwari nan was incredible, I've never ever had one so filling and as good as this. Not your traditional style but rather more like a folded sandwich. Overall a great experience, the food was excellent, prices a little more on the high price side, however being Radlett this is probably why. Although I left feeling that I got excellent value and presentation and service also was great. Not to mention my friend and I were super stuffed afterwards! We probably could have shared a main to be honest.
I'm now looking forward to going again! If only they had a rewards scheme I'd probably visit more often...
Read moreFirst off nice looking restaurant, modern although tables were very close together. Poppadoms were not great £4.50 with very awkward little pots with the mint, mango and chutney, chilly in. Wasn't a fan.
Lamb chops were extremely spicy and blew the head off my gf. I actually liked them but they were very hot. 3 small (well cooked) chops £13.
Chilli mogo chips were undercooked and not great flavour especially for £7.50 barely ate any. Nann bread was fine. Rice fine. Butter chicken cooked nicely but not the best flavor in my opinion, quite bitter and lacking in something more flavorsome. Pints of cobra were very good but at £6.50 a pint you'd expect that.
Overall not a great experience and was not particularly impressed with anything on the menu. We won't be...
