Barracuda — Restaurant in Hertsmere

The most positive things I can say is that; this is local to us, the service is pleasant, it's inexpensive and by eating there, we avoid washing/clearing up at home. In fairness, I've not dined there in the evening but it is unlikely that this turns into a place that actually tries, gastronomically speaking.

September '25 update: a very decent Greek Salad and much improved coffee in their lovely extension.

For example, if they will insist on pre-cooking their poached eggs (although they appear to be poached direct in water, which is something), then they ought to make sure they're cooked so that the yolk hasn't set. All the eggs on our table were depressingly overdone. The hash brown was removed from the freezer with an artful flourish and then heated/fried to absolute, bland lazy-Sunday-night-meal perfection. The hollandaise sauce was insipid.

I didn't bother ordering coffee as last time, it (a Black Americano) was acrid and sour tasting. This is a venue that could host a good local restaurant, but achieves nothing more than being an inexpensive human fuelling station that does not pose a health-risk to its customers.

Ultimately though, we customers are to blame. If we keep frequenting such venues they will not be...

honestly speaking this is the worst restaurant that i have ever been to for the simple fact that when i went here with my mother for her birthday and we got served the most repulsive food ever, i ordered what was supposed to be a pizza and when they served it to me it was all slimy and wet and was sliding across the plate as she was carrying it across to the table. She set it down and i took a bite out of it and it was stone cold with an absolutely nauseating pizza base sauce that tasted like tomato puree with a lot of water added onto it that made my stomach turn inside out and forced me to regurgitate the slimy piece of work back onto the plate.

My mother was served a hot dog that looked like it had contracted leukemia in the third trimester as it was literally sweating and drippung with grease wehn my mother took a bite out of it was rock hard and uncooked, it was almost as if they dipped the sausage in sodding piss and left it to sit for a few hours in the fridge.

Very disappointed with the restaurant. They were obviously short staffed in the kitchen but instead of explaining the situation they just left us waiting for over 50 minutes for a couple of omelettes and a couple of sandwiches. No matter how many times we asked what was going on they just kept saying that the food was on the way. When it did finally arrive half the orders were wrong and most of the cooked food was cold. No one seemed to care. We're offered a 10% discount but only after complaining again.
