Relish Real Burgers — Restaurant in Hertsmere

We were restaurant customers and were very disappointed. Service very slow throughout, drinks came out after the starters arrived. The restaurant lacked atmosphere but hopefully as we come out of the pandemic this may improve. They seem to have a very successful take-away service with deliveroo or Just eat and these orders are constantly being walked through the restaurant, which is a bit annoying while you are waiting an extraordinary time for your own food. I feel like the restaurant is currently an afterthought and the restaurant customers are a captive audience and can wait while the takeaways are the priority. A lot of the excellent reviews are for the take away service, so this does look like where their strength lies. Our burgers were OK but less than average and overpriced. I had the Vegan Stack and the patty was thin and disintegrated into a puddle of relish, onion chutney and sautéed peppers. My Partner and Daughter had a regular burger which had an unusual and unpleasant flavour. My Son's chicken burger was good but nothing special and he had no complaints but refused the offer of half of my Daughter's discarded burger which is uber unusual. We were charged £1.50 extra for a slice of cheese to make it a cheese burger. I felt our whole experience was blah at best. Ordered delivery on just eat with an hour expected arrival time, the food eventually arrived an hour and 40 mins later. Upon arrival we discovered the food was freezing cold.

When ringing the restaurant to inform them that the food they had delivered felt like it had been sandwiched between 2 bags of ice for a few hours the manager began to tell us it was our fault for living too far away (we live a 6min drive away) He then decided to try to explain to us that it was a Friday night and we shouldn’t expect hot food on a Friday due to them being busy. (Not sure how that one works)

After asking what the next steps were to rectify this, he continued to shout down the phone and try intimate a young female before taking a leaf straight out of the childish handbook and hanging up the phone.

After spending the next 5 minutes trying to call back, a waitress answered and informed us she would process a refund and the manager didn’t want to talk to me.

I don’t know if the manager was having a bad day or he just enjoys sending out cold food and shouting at paying customers but if I were you I wouldn’t take the chance.

Burger was really good. Fries from a packet...cmon really ? Service was good but we were literally the only people there. Non refrigerated mayonnaise... can't you read the bottle ? Side sauces were all just mayonnaise with paprika or some other powder mixed in. I had 'chipotle' sauce. Literally mayo mixed with chilli powder and paprika.

The onion rings where good, but when two people spent £50 on a main each and two drinks each, i want homemade food not pre packaged fries and obvious profoteering from sub par extras.

I dont see why ill be going back, the whole thing was a bit meh, not bad by any means but no where near what it should be for the money.
