Large lake plus smaller lower down. Go from High Street. For the lower one, carry from in same direction. Voila. Years ago, the upper lake was cleared of sludge. A net or membrane was used to protect the fish and the gunk formed a mound used by the far boundary for a slide for older children. The fish weren't too happy but then they got a larger home. Squirrels, ducks, pigeons and occasionally, other wild life are about. No catering facilities within park but Harvester on left side from High St. All in all. Rather nice. Invariably and especially Easter starting tomorrow, loads of shouting squealing youngsters having a great time. Bless the noisy...
Read moreOakmere park is a beautiful small park in Potters Bar. Well worth a visit. The park is well kept and the ponds full of ducks. The council have really thought the children's play areas out well there is one for the small children and one for the larger ones. There is a Harvester restaurant on one edge and the outside has a gate to the park. The main problem though would be if the kids want to play in the play area then you cannot see them. The park is dog friendly but pick up your poo as others do not need to see it. Had a great time and the squirrels kept my dog...
Read moreLovely park, lovely to see ducks, squirrels and different species of birds, only thing that ruined it was 2 large men with a lady and dog, who were standing one side of the pond with a fishing rod, casting off across the pond,It almost reached the side where we were sitting and on numerous occasions the hook went into where the ducks were swimming and narrowly missed hitting them. They had to keep scattering, where they were scared. There was another man just sitting quietly fishing which was fine but the others ruined it, with their stupidity...
