CALL THE POLICE!!!
Wow. Where I do I start. Rude, disrespectful chef/owner. On arriving at the venue was greeted by a polite young waitress, ordered a bottle of red wine & 2 cocktails to start the evening off. Starters were mediocre at best, bland arancini (on the specials 🥴) served with a beef ragu with no beef? Tomato bruschetta was lacking everything but the tomato, no seasoning, no garlic, no basil… We ate the starters as we were hungry & hoped the main courses would make up for it.
On to the mains, I ordered a medium ribeye & my partner ordered a medium fillet. Ribeye came out rare & fillet came out medium to well. The waitress checked back and we explained the issues, plates were taken back to the kitchen whilst we picked at the ‘truffle & Parmesan fries’ which were lacking the truffle & Parmesan with a cheap vinegary mayonnaise, CLAIMED TO BE HOMEMADE 😂.
Waitress came back shortly after to let us know it would be around 10 minutes, time passed & we were delivered food even worse than first attempt. My partner received a fresh fillet steak however I was served my previous steak which claimed to be a fresh steak despite the same incisions I had made. On telling the waitress the steaks were overcooked again, politely explaining to her we would just eat the veg & you can take the steaks back to the kitchen.
2 minutes later an angry, disrespectful chef or owner or possibly just an employee with a very big ego came marching over to the table, insisting me & my partner didn’t know how to order a steak correctly. I politely stood up and offered to chat to the gentleman in a quiet corner of the restaurant as there were tables around us that I didn’t want to disturb. On me standing up he shouted across the restaurant to one of the waitresses CALL THE POLICE! We look at him in disbelief as we didn’t realise it was a criminal offence to send a steak back to be cooked correctly. On then telling the gentleman who was still adamant the steaks were cooked correctly, that I own a steakhouse so I have the experience & knowledge of how to cook steaks correctly, he simply laughed in my face & told us to get out I don’t want your money. After this we politely offered to pay for the drinks but he was adamant for us to leave so we left peacefully, with other guests & his own staff around us also in disbelief of what had just happened.
How anybody in the hospitality sector can treat their customers like this is beyond me, they have no place in the industry, when staff all around the Uk dedicate there life to hospitality this gentleman has no place in this industry.
The last time I checked being rude, ill-mannered & disrespectful is not in ANY job description.
From my experience in the hospitality sector I would never treat a...
Read moreNot my normal review style (mainly due to that "meh" feeling and disappointment) but a copy of my thoughts from my FB post for friends in my local area.
To add context, this didn't include 2 glasses of house wine at £7.40 each. Plus I can't of course verify the source of the ingredients, but sometimes you just know.....
"You know sometimes you really should just go with your gut.....
I'm not a fan of Italian restaurants, well not outside of Italy. It's in my experience not made with love but for sheer profit, pulling in those that don't know better.
Anyhow, Sue fancied a date night (which is always fun) but wanted to go to La Corrente..... Though my Spidey sense tingled I agreed.
Now I don't usually dis restaurants on FB, only share those experiences I've enjoyed, but sometimes when places take the piss it grinds my gears.
Our choices :
Tomato bruschetta (ok, nothing special just mid).
Slow cooked pork ribs (slow? 5 hours lovingly braised in aromatics, herbs and base sauce ingredients so it falls if the bone with a rich dense gravy to dip some nice crusty bread into..... Nope, 80% pork bones with minuscule pieces of leather like pork and swimming in some artificial sauce, we're talking motorway service level of cooking).
Carbonara (over salty bacon, gloopy sauce and stodgy pasta).
Rib eye steak (now Ive eaten my body weight of rib eyes over the years, plus bought many from the Lidl from across the way from this restaurant. If this wasn't a Lidl steak then I'll eat my hat, plus seasonal veg..... Under seasoned asparagus and carrot, very seasonal.... ).
But the worst! Truffle and parmesan fries are trendy in lots of places currently, Sue's very partial. So I ordered them as my side for her. Fries... Check, Truffle oil .... Maybe. Parmesan..... Less evident. Really cheap, shop bought vinegary mayonnaise... Tons off.... Joke.
The pleasure for this meal?
£78.00
Yup less than £10 worth of ingredients for £78 (even the good service can't justify that).
That's why I don't do and hate Italian restaurants in the uk, I've been burnt so...
Read moreReally nice restaurant! A good atmosphere, there were 3 birthdays going on and everyone sang happy birthday which was lovely. Servers were accommodating apart from asking me to remove my hood which I explained that I am a hijabi and also have been suffering from a head injury therefore didn’t want to show it. They were very understanding.
I ordered the lobster ravioli and it came in prawn sauce. My first time eating lobster and I wasn’t disappointed! The sauce was very fishy which was to be expected. I probably would like to see a lobster ravioli with tomato sauce on the menu in future. My partner had the pizza and this was also very tasty.
The drink that I ordered was a strawberry lemonade and it was STUNNING.
I do recommend coming here. Good date location or for a family/ friend...
