Nice big but cozy place. Nice atmosphere, staff very friendly and fantastic home made food. Looking forward to returning. **Update** Returned with my family at the weekend and unfortunately the service was terrible, we were advised that there was a 30 minute wait for food when we placed our order but over an hour passed with no update and we had to approach the staff to find out where our food was and was advised that they were busy because of the festive menu but wasn't particularly appologetic. Finally received our food after an hour and a half wait. The Food was very nice but we made the mistake of ordering dessert and ended up waiting another 20 mins and had to chase this up so in total spent over 2 hours waiting with no appology. I was extremely embarrassed after telling my family how nice it was and unfortunately will avoid at weekends as when we asked if this was normal service he just shrugged.**

While staying in a cottage not far from glossop me and my family visited the Norfolk on two occasions on the first morning for breakfast as I’m vegan and noticed they had clearly labelled options Inside is well organised and comfortable we sat in the booth with a tv Despite going early for breakfast on Saturday morning there was a Long wait but once the food arrived would explain why as the quality and Presentation was well worth it and we wasn’t in a rush , it set us up for the day And all my Family enjoyed We also dined in the evening having some small plates and mains , again very tasty and came quicker this time , followed by dessert The staff are lovely and accommodating with great service too Would return and love how its dog friendly

I eat at The Norfolk Arms regularly, and I’m always impressed by how well they cater to my needs as someone on the Autism Spectrum. The front-of-house staff are very understanding and make sure my preferences are communicated clearly to the kitchen. I often ask for my meal items to not touch or request lots of separate crockery, and it’s never an issue—they’re always happy to accommodate, and I never feel rushed or uncomfortable. It’s great to know there’s a place where I can relax and feel fully looked after. If you or someone in your family is on the Autism Spectrum and looking for somewhere that truly understands specific needs, I’d definitely recommend giving The Norfolk Arms a try.

I was lucky enough to of won the top prize at an event I had previously attended which gave me the option of 6 Joseph holts pubs to stay at, so after looking at the options we chose the norfork arms. We was welcomed with open arms as soon as we arrived by Scott and the lovely bar staff they looked after us from the second we arrived and the landlady (manager) carol also came over to welcome us and quickly sorted our room which may I add was absolutely beautiful with all little extra such as an iron and iron board, hair dryer even shower gel/shampoo in case I forgot to pack them. We then went down where we ordered food the steak was cooked perfectly and my partner had the burger with extra salt and pepper chips and onion rings was absolutely lovely. Entertainment was brilliant too and had a really good artist on she had an amazing voice. Safe to say we had a lovely night and the bar staff was very helpful directing us to the nearest clubs if we wished to stay out longer. At the end of the night I thought it was very nice Carol came and had a drink with us with her partner we had a lovely chat and was lovely to be told it would be lovely for us to go back and see them again. Had descent sleep too beds were comfy and extremely clean. I will definitely be planning to go back and stay again and I would most definitely recommend the Norfork arms for anyone visiting glossop. Thanks again to all the staff and Carol for looking after us and making us literally feel like we was at home the entire time we was there. Many...

Nice enough place built of the local stone and with spacious dining / drinking rooms below. Lots of period features and character. My room was clean and comfortable if a little on the small side, and with iron, coffee making area, fan / heater and en-suite bathroom. The youthful staff all seemed friendly and the Holts beer is nice if you like traditional ale. There are a few niggles though: The juke box and later the bingo caller were very clearly and quite loudly audible in my room - maybe through ventilation ducts? It didn’t go on late but I was trying to do some reading and it was a distraction. I was also woken very early (5 am) by very loud rumbling which I think was water noise, presumably from next door. Meanwhile, there’s food in-house and it’s ok but not brilliant. It was only available til 3pm despite being advertised online as all day, though the staff kindly helped us out with last minute requests. A slightly bigger problem is that breakfast is not available til 1000 - no use at all if you have to get up and go out to work and, bizarrely, after the advertised check-out time. I have to say that my stay all worked out ok despite the niggles and as I only paid £80, I’m not complaining. But those spending more than 1 night or those on a tight work schedule might demand more. A shame because it has the makings of a find place to eat,...

(reviewed September 2021) Room for improvement First time visit with my foodie partner and whilst the service was good (even with the newbie staff, where patience was given) sadly the flavour of the lasagne was lacking - read on.

Drinks: Crystal Lager and 2x Chardonnay/Soda

Main course: 2x Beef Lasagne. Nicely served and presented. The Garlic bread, salad and chips all good. But sadly the Lasagne was lacking in any flavour, certainly could not taste the beef (flavouring). Everything else was done nicely.

Dessert: Simply Ice Cream and Sticky salted Caramel Roulade - the ice cream. Both thoroughly enjoyed.

So what went wrong with the Lasagne. Its certainly NOT the Norfolk's or the staffs fault. This is squarely down to the quality control (or obviously lack of of it) where Holts get their pre made Lasagne from. When any flavouring is added, something more than a 'dusting' or a drop of essence is called for. Holts main office has been notified so that they may look into it further.

This is no reflection on the pub or the staff as a whole which very good - just that tasteless lasagne.

We will no doubt venture back later in the year to see if there has been any...
