Update: I first reviewed 3 years ago (see below), we live locally and still come here including tonight and again the food was lovely and even my fussy partner was happy with his dishes. Tarka daal was outstanding, chicken tikka tender, breads competently made. Very surprised at the bad reviews, noticed many are takeaway, we usually dine I'm and it's always been a good experience. Staff are also really lovely, we were put off by a really noisy group and they went to some trouble to set up the upstairs for us. Also offered us a bigger more comfortable table downstairs initially, even though it was fairly busy on a Friday night. So what one reviewer said about being made to sit at the smallest table is not the case now. Nice relaxed place to have a great quality curry at a reasonable price. Just to point out to another reviewer slating the food for not being authentically Indian: the restaurant is Bangladeshi, not Indian. The flavours are well balanced and nans cooked to perfection - fresh and fluffy soft with some browned bits. Samosas are large and taste freshly made, definitely above average quality. Fish dishes especially recommended, really tender. I've eaten here lots and with various people, and we've hardly even had a dish we've not been completely happy with. The staff make an effort and have a sense of humour.

The Balti Palace has been a hidden gem in the heart of Glossop for many many years. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are bubbly, down to earth and friendly. The chef is superb and his style of cooking is authentic Indian. Great blend of fresh spices makes dishes taste that much more special. The owner is a very sweet humble and down to earth man with monumental people skills. This is deffo a hidden gem and its time that this great restaurant received the exposure it deserves and people come and try the amazing rich and flavourful food they have to offer. Thank you for serving the people of Glossop for so long.

We attended on a Tuesday evening. We noted that there was a weekday dinner offer. We were allowed to choose any starter and any main from the menu. The mixed starter was top notch - very fresh and tasty. I had a keema vindaloo which was superb - the portions were generous too. The service was attentive and sincere. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. We will definitely come back if in the area.

Had 5 vouchers for Uber eats and this is 1 of 3 places in Glossop using Uber- the others being dessert places. Ordered food to be delivered 6-6:30 on a sat night. It was running late, had to chase it up (twice) but when it arrived (7:30) it was one of the best Indian meals me and the wife have had and we both agreed it was worth the wait- though not really the point as 7:30 is the kids bed time. 2nd order, arrived on time and perfectly delicious! The 3rd however is what really prompted this review. Ordered for delivery for 6-6:30 on thurs. For a work friend as we were curried out. The idea being I’d drop it off for him whilst taking my lad swimming. It hadn’t arrived by the time I had to leave. Hadn’t arrived by the time I’d got back (inc a shopping trip at M&S) Chased it up and it finally arrived at 8:05pm. Over an hour and half late. No apology no nothing and whilst the curries are nice you need the customer service to go with it. Won’t be using again. Also my friend didn’t find a single hint of king prawn tikka in the Balti palace special mix.

I’ve not eaten in the restaurant but that’s probably the way forward as the food is very nice. Don’t waste your time/money on deliveries if you want the food to arrive for a...

Was really looking forward to my meal and had to push my partner for another indian. It is with regret that I feel this way. It was 5 star rated establishment on the door. The staff were very nice but thats the last positive. 2 different chicken curries twangy chicken. Now I don’t know what causes this! But I don’t like it and i have come across it before, but only the odd piece. These curries were full of it. The nan bread tasted ok but when I turned it over it was red in parts my partner said it was probably food die. My point is it shouldn’t be there. The place could do with refurbishment and deep clean. Weatherspoons was better at half the price and the place is nice...
