The Anchor Inn — Restaurant in High Peak

I live directly opposite the Anchor and if you don't need sleep and a place to park your car from Friday to Monday morning then this is the perfect pub for you. I have to say the landlord and landlady are fantastic and do all they can to resolve issues surrounding the pub and they also do a Sunday Roast to die for, it's amazing. But it gets a bit much and frustrating when every Friday we lose our ability to park outside our own homes for 3 days each week. We have to put up with people driving to the pub then having too much to drink and leaving their cars outside our homes for 3 days. And the Anchor Pub has its own car park, so why not leave their cars there ????. The answer is "laziness", these drivers cannot be bothered as it's easier to dump their cars outside other addresses. There are 2 people who have serious illnesses and access is always required to their homes for Ambulances/Emergency Doctors etc 24 hours a day. So to see someone parking their car right outside blocking any parking space an Ambulance or Emergency Doctors may need is to me selfish. I am one of these people that occasionally due to my illness needs an emergency Ambulance, and it's happened on several occasions where I've had to walk a long way down the road to get to the ambulance and help i need. I would like also to make it clear that the landlord and landlady are in no way responsible in this matter. They are good people iwho try to make sure the local community is not disturbed...

After a day and night on the moors, this was such a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere. The bar women was very happy and welcoming, chatted with us about what we had been up to and where we are from.

We happened upon midday bingo with the older generation who were equally as lovely and chatty.

Excellent place if you're after a traditional cosy pub. Live music or entertainment on each weekend. Charlie was fantastic and had such a lovely voice. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We had my husbands 70th get-together there with a buffet. The food was great, too. Certainly...
