I had a bad experience today in this pub. My pint of beer was cloudy and opaque. I returned it to the bar, and the server explained it was a dark beer. I agreed, it was dark, but I was uncomfortable with the cloudiness. That's how it's meant to be – it's a dark beer, and no one else has complained. She moved on to serve another customer, leaving me awkward and embarrassed at the bar. Watched by customers, I returned to my seat with my cloudy and untouched beer – maximum embarrassment. When I felt few people would notice, I gathered my belongings and slipped out. I went to The Queens Head, a pub where I always feel welcome. Read moreHired the back room for a surprise 80th birthday party for 70 people. It was absolutely brilliant there. The staff team were so lovely, the food was tasty and very good value and the perfect amount too! Louise, the landlady even made a plate of spam slices and sandwiches for my Dad. What a lovely touch. Louise has made it so easy to organise the party even allowing us in earlier in the day to decorate. Read moreVisited recently for our Sunday lunch which we pre-booked mid week. Great carvery food, Beef, Turkey and gammon plus all the trimmings... fantastic wholesome freshly cooked meal. Great friendly staff plus brilliant atmosphere. We used the bar area before and after the meal. I was too full to try the desert but my wife did and it looked amazing...it tasted good too was the report from the other side of the table.
Recommend this pub for it's food, beer and atmosphere but i would pre-book your table. From memory the Sunday lunch is on from 1230-1430/1500.
