Visited Costa Storrington. Small queue which they apologised for. I ordered an orange latte from the festive range. I have Coeliac disease so have to be gluten free- I have their allergen guide on my phone due to being a 'costaholic'! After they served my drink (very promptly) I asked them why the festive hazelnut praline was classed as contains wheat. The two younger barristers weren't sure but got the allergen book out and also got their manager involved. We all did some investigation work and worked out it's the topping. I couldn't have asked for better service, they were so friendly, understanding and couldn't have done anymore to be helpful. Highly recommended and the coffee is great too! 😉 One suggestion if anyone from Costa big wigs reads this.... it would be really handy if in the allergen section you break down the ingredients so we know which part contains the ingredients we need to avoid... I.e. I can have the hazelnut praline just without the topping which has biscuit in. Same for the gingerbread latte which comes...
Read moreI am only rating rhe coffee as that's usually all I have. I always ask for a warm flat white & clarify it by asking for it not too hot. (The correct way is not to serve it scalding hot because it brings out a burnt taste to the coffee & the milk no longer contrasts sweetly with the coffee). When I pay £3.85 for a coffee I expect it to be made properly & a flat white should have 2 shots of coffee. I'm tired of being given insipid, pale coffee, especially at the Storrington branch. It feels like I'm being short-changed or the baristas need proper training. This is a coffee chain, for goodness sake; they should be making the best coffee. One recent Sunday I ordered a takeaway coffee & requested it as mentioned above. When I sat down to drink it, it was boiling hot, too hot to drink for a while & it did not taste like coffee at all. I landed up pouring half of it in the gutter. I have discovered that a nearby pub sells a far superior flat white at a better price. Costa, you have...
Read moreI’m fortunate that in the town where I live we have probably got the best Costa outlet and sadly the worst too. This particular outlet does Costa no favours.
However, I decided to treat myself to the new hot chocolate the company has launched for Easter. There was really no difference other than the chocolate bunny and the presentation of the drink was abysmal, nothing like advertised.
I didn’t complain as I’m recovering from an operation but really, the barista was an embarista to the brand.
It gets worse!! I walked into town on Sunday with my friends and we went in for a coffee. I bought three copies in the cake, handed over my Costa card and yet none of the points have been added!
I think in future I will stick to the tea room around the corner when in...
