Can I get a hot chocolate for my daughter? No, we dont have any hot chocolate at the moment.

End up with Pepsi and J2o. Dirty glasses.

Can I get a few pound coins for the pool table? (Added to my bill when I paid) No, sorry, we can't do that, but there is a cash machine across the lintot square.

The whole time, the staff member was on their mobile phone whilst serving me.

Ask for cues to play pool. Perfect, they came from behind the bar with some chalk. Fantastic.

My kids play three games of pool over an hour or so. After about 40 mins, staff comes over and says the owner is watching through a window and wants the children supervised, despite my youngest being 14 years old, being watched by me, and playing properly with all respect. The sign displayed says children under 12 should be supervised. Doesn't apply to my children, and if the owner was watching them, he would clearly see they were no trouble at all and playing properly.

Caused a very awkward feeling. My kids wanted to go home straight away.

Place is run on a shoe string. Basic things you want and expect from your local pub, you can't have here. Badly needs new ownership. Zero hospitality, zero atmosphere, poor service, won't be returning any time soon. Diabolical. On a positive note, there is plenty of seating for everyone!! (But that's because the place is always empty)

Appears to desperately need a new owner, who values and respects locals and...

Used to think a lot of this place and really enjoyed going out to eat there. A little tarnished to hear that there is allegedly a culture of paying staff below the NMW despite being challenged over it - shrugging your shoulders about it is not an option... And alleged sub letting of property to staff. I thought management had changed for the better. Seems to be worse than before. Not to mention it is known to be a drug den for after hours lock ins. other people on here must know as they have also commented this. Goes to show you can think a place is alright but what goes on behind closed doors eh.

Subsequently been asked third party to remove my feedback as it is "untrue" im not the only one posting such things about them.. the tactile approach to get this removed as well must mean it is true.

UPDATE 22/06/2022 - I did get a lot of grief from the last owners so i do look forward to the change however have moved out of the area now so lot as likely...

Popped in for lunch, welcomed and seated quickly but that's where the positives end. Ordered a minute steak and burger then waiting nearly 40 minutes for these to arrive (the pub was very quiet) The burger once arrived was beyond charred. I had to cut off all the burnt parts which didn't leave much else. The minute steak was very overlooked and served with limp fries. We were never menu checked but at the end when asked if everything was ok I then explained about the burger. No apology, no offer of taking money off nothing. We then went to the till to pay as again we were waiting for the bill at the table. Very disappointed and we never...
