Just wanted to write a post about my recent experience at the new haldi Indian restaurant in South water. We've ordered food from there a few times before and never had an issue and it's always been nice. A couple of weeks ago we ordered from them and in my vegetable dhansak I discovered a piece of lamb (confirmed by my partner as I've never eaten meat in my life!). I called up and spoke to the manager who identified himself as "maz" he was SO apologetic. He said he couldn't understand how it would have happened and that it must have "flown from another pan into my dish..". He asked us to give him a second chance, get a few friends round and have a meal on him and he would even offered to throw in a bottle of prosecco (which we had no intention of having as we do not drink) but at the time we thought he was desperately trying to win back our trust. Well last night we invited some 2 friends round and we took them up on their offer. I called up and spoke to "Maz". He confirmed he was a man of his word so we went ahead and got an order together. When I then placed the order he told me that he couldn't give me the free meal he had promised and said the best he could do was a "big discount" instead, whilst we were speaking on the phone, he also made it clear that he had no time to speak about it as customers were waiting, rushing as away. Really disappointed that I had meat in my dish but I understand that although rare it can happen but what really disappointed me was that he lied and it became clear that he had no intention of providing the free meal he had promised and only said it to please us at the time and hope that we would not share...
Read moreTried New Haldi on a very busy Wednesday night… so have made allowances with my review for slow service etc. I ordered a coke, and a cobra appeared. But a lovely waiter switched them for me. It took a while to order our food but it was busy. But the staff were friendly especially what I guessed was the owner. (Awesome suit too!)
The starters were lovely! (We were told they would take a while as the kitchen was so busy, so we did order poppadoms and chutneys in the mean time so to not rush the heaving kitchen staff any further as we could tell they were busy!) We had the chicken tikka and samosas. The tikka melted! It was beautiful. The samosas were bursting with flavour.
The mains came a butter chicken and a korma, both were DIVINE! My boyfriend got the paneer cheese and spinach with a boiled rice. I ordered a boiled rice and garlic naan (the rice never appeared but it’s fine) everything tasted lovely!
It took a while to get the bill but as I’ve mentioned, they were very busy! We will go back as the owner was ace and the...
Read moreAfter several years going to Haldi it is sad to say that New Years Eve was an awful experience. 3 hours to wait for a very poor meal with cold, tasteless food. We advised of an allergy but the food arrived still covered in coriander. Rice was overcooked, bhaji undercooked. The entire evening they continued to take orders for takeaways. The queue was out the door with people waiting over an hour to get their ordered takeaway. They left the eat in diners waiting hours without food. No drink orders taken. People were left eating popadoms without plates. We were left without several pieces of cutlery. There was no apology for the awful food or service. The manager felt a discount of £30 was generous. He continued to argue despite the numerous complaints we made. We eventually left 3 1/2 hours after arriving with a 7 year old. A number of other tables left after there starters still hadn't been served having waited over an hour. It is sad as we had always enjoyed our meals at Haldi. We will never...
