What a disaster. Whilst looking appealing from the outside, with a lovely outdoor seating area, I warn you to not be fooled. First of all, the service was extremely slow. This was not the waiter/waitresses fault, it was due to the sheer lack of staff on shift, bearing in mind it was a sunny saturday afternoon. Our first round of drinks took at least 40 minutes to come. The gin tree we ordered, was incorrect, with the wrong gin flavours served with incorrect mixers - this was disappointing. We then ordered hot food for lunch. I opted for two starters rather than a main ( a portion of garlic bread as well as halloumi) which was inedible. The garlic bread was a dry piece of bread slathered with a thick layer of plain butter likewise with rubbery halloumi which was drowning in an unpleasant sauce. Others on the table had burgers with what they like to call 'shoestring chips' which were stone cold. No one finished their plate of food due to the lack of quality and care taken with the taste and preparation. After attempting to finish our food, we waited at least 45 minutes for our plates to be cleared. Meanwhile, the music was turned up extremely loud, making it extremely difficult for us to talk to one another. We called the what looked like 'manager' over, and explained to him we had been waiting over 45 minutes for our plates to be cleared, and asked if it was possible to turn the music down a tad. He replied with ' okay I will find someone to clear them for you' in an arrogant, and condescending tone, failing to deliver an apology. The toilets. We went to use the toilets and was informed that the ladies were out of order due to a blockage. As a result, they told us the only option was to use the staff toilets which involved tip toeing around boxes behind the bar in order to use it. In addition, we were also told that there's no lock on the staff toilet door and so we either had to stamp or whistle to ensure no one walked in. If I had seen the state of the toilets prior to eating, I would have walked straight back out.
All in all, as a family, we were excited to finally go out together, and have an enjoyable lunch together, but ended up feeling like we had wasted our time and money. I would...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePopped in for a drink for the first time the other day, so don't know it well (yet) and I will update this review in the future. However, experience was good, place was packed at 4pm, low ceilings, wooden beams, so good atmosphere and the staff were friendly and efficient. I see they do frequent live gigs, music and comedy, so I will probably try and get to some of them.
Update:
A friend and I had lunch at the Tipsy Fox recently. The menu is pretty typical pub grub - burgers, mac'n cheese, fish and chips, and a good choice of pizzas. Pulled pork pizza was good, although the base was a little tough, and my friend's burger came with Macdonald's type fries, not the chunky chips as advertised on the menu. Service was very friendly and pleasant, but quite disorganised. For example, the lady forgot what I'd ordered and had to come back and check, then turned up with the wrong starter anyway. However, to their credit they did offer the correct...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally enjoy this place and it's become my new local. It is so cosy, especially in the winter and at Christmas time with the open fire, authentic country charm and it's full of lovely people with dogs too š the staff are nice and the food has recently got alot better too, especially the pizzas which are amazing! I would say one thing they can improve on though is the quality of the pints they pour. Around half the time the beer is flat and I've had to take it back to change it and it's probably to do with the gas when they change the barrel. Get this sorted and maybe add a few other beers, IPAs and some good cider and it's you'll be...
