App is only good to use and collect points. It doesn't list the menu or do mobile ordering even in my big town Huddersfield, which has 3 Costas including a drive thru. The restaurants generally list a menu on the wall but with drinks and only some snack items. So if you're not a frequent visitor like us and you need to ask staff for assistance with their food options, the staff know absolutely nothing! We wanted one of their hot meal deals, but upon asking staff they couldn't tell us what they had and just kept referring me to the sandwich display but we couldn't see the option I'd seen in their advertising. So I ended up wasting today £10 on what should have been a special new year treat for me and hubby, by feeling rushed into buying something else we didn't really want. Turns out our smoked ham and cheese that was only toasted on one side was 'Vegan' smoked ham and cheese toasted sandwich, which I also didn't realise until I read the receipt at home. No wonder it tasted and looked odd. Not happy about that! Oh after browsing the internet too once home, it was a 'bolognese mac and cheese' hot meal I'd seen that was what I was after and apparently they only list 3 hot meals too on the menu, so makes me wonder why the staff didn't know of these 3 meals. I donāt know if this was a used tissue or clean but needless to say I took it to the counter and showed it the boy who was serving. The same boy who had no smile whatsoever and did not seem to want to be there he said in a very unapologetic tone ahh ok Iāll make you another. He offered no apology whatsoever or even looked phased. I gave him the benefit of the doubt he made me another as I sat down thinking he may bring it to me for the inconvenience. No that was not the case he left it on the side for me to collect and didnāt even let me know or call me over when it was ready. In fact another customer who had seen what had happened brought it to me and shook her head at him. He was a very tall boy with fair blond hair very skinny and the most arrogant person with the worst customer service skills I have ever seen. I have now started using Starbucks on Leeds road I did write a complaint to Costa but they have no responded at all. Beyond poor and will not return now to any Costa and I used to drink a lot. Starbucks now has a new loyal customer I would urge anyone thinking of going there to go further on Leeds road to the new Starbucks better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām a big fan of Costa Coffee, I run my own business so regularly drop into one when Iām out and about. The Leeds Road spot in Huddersfield has always been a regular haunt.
However the last 12 months I have noticed the cleanliness of the place has gone down hill. Even when the place is quiet there are rarely any tables that donāt have pots and rubbish that need clearing. The floor is often filthy and the tables that are clear have remnants of food on them. Using a branded chain for hot drinks you pay a slight premium to have a better experience than going to a greasy spoon cafe, however when you have to clear a table of other peopleās left overs, and sit surrounded by crumbs and muck, it takes the edge of the experience.
Staff attitude varies, the majority are generally up beat and friendly, there is one guy that works there who looks and acts like he would rather be somewhere else, asking for a glass of water to go with my hot drink, was met with rolled eyes and tuts...nice when you have just spent best part of £11 on drinks and cakes.
Have started going to the Costas at the odeon which is a couple of miles...
