Update. 5/5/25 got small fish n chips for both me and hubby via app with peas and coke. £8.25 x2. I'd give 8/10 freshly cooked and quick service but a little oily today. Needed to be drained a little longer. But ok otherwise. App is finally working and got to order the £6.95 fish and chips. And nice they were as usual. But it was never about the food but the poor service, which has nowbeen improved for now. Update Sept 2024 as no response from app. App not working now it's been updated. Cannot log in, change password or pay for anything! Being disabled its not easy to get to shop counter. Shop wouldn't honour the £6.95 Small fish & Chips available on App either, not even as a long time regular customer. Food was also not it's best either after finally ordering fish & chips from counter, got home to find fish very thin and dry. Not the food or service iI expected. Not sure if I'll visit again. We visit here quite often because of the quality of their fish and chips. We have been to other places to try too, around Huddersfield and other nearby towns and none match this chippy. I now have just a fish butty and pinch some of hubby's chips as there's that many in a portion of regular fish & chips, that I struggle eating so many. There's free parking on the forecourt to the premises and also on main road adjacent. It also has a disabled access entrance and toilet. I decided today to use the eat out and help out, so I made my decision to come to Mother Hubbards in Huddersfield. My first impression was that all the covid-19 rules were abided by and the two meter and one meter distance was clearly displayed on the floor. The tables were nice and clean and there was enough hygienic cleaning stations available. Once I entered the premises I was served by simona and jenade, both were absolutely polite, helpful and really friendly. I ordered a fish and chips with peas and chicken bites. My order didn't take long as everything is freshly cooked, there wasn't much oil on the chips as usually i eat out at many chip shops but the oil is always dripping off the fish and chips. However Huddersfield mother Hubbards was absolutely perfect 👌🏻. My conclusion the service I received from simona and jenade was absolutely perfect, friendly polite professional and courteous. The food lovely worth my drive to come and eat out today. Most of all this is a really nice and professional establishment serving excellent food and with a very good service. I will definitely be coming back for me to eat and bring my friends and family to eat out and help out. Highly recommended...

Dont bother eating here as they use very bruised rotting potatoes most recently. I had to throw most of my supper away as the chips were mostly black and bruised and the fish was watery, greasy and batter was falling off. What a waste of £25 and I'm going to demand a refund or free supper next time. Its disgusting that the chef does not care when Frying that the chips are rotten!!! The food used to be great but they changed the potatoes they use for the chips or they cook them differently. Chips are very flourey, and because they are so thick some not cooked through. I am now hesitant to go there. The front door is always open so there is a draft the restaurant is noisey due to traffic noise and as there is no screen between people eating and those waiting for a takeaway. The worst thing is people park their cars right infront of the restaurant windows so they are watching you eat!!! There is no gap between the front door and the car space due to the main road. Please put screen on the windows of the restaurant, put screen between takeaway counter and restaurant seating area.
