Grameen Lounge — Restaurant in Kirklees

My partner and I have made it our mission to visit all the Indian restaurants in Huddersfield, Grameen Lounge is one of the few we have left to visit due to it’s location! Despite being the only ones dining at 9pm on a Thursday, we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant has nice decor, the chef’s special salsa-like dip in Pickle Tray is 10/10 and the Garlic Naans were very fresh & buttery, akin to a garlic pizza from an Italian. Staff were friendly and helpful. I actually mis-ordered something I believed to be a curry and the owner/manager asked me if I was aware and got the chef to alter my meal mid-cook… can’t really ask for more! Food was good quality and we enjoyed it all, plus the Coca-Cola was legit and not rolacola like many of the other places we’ve visited!

Only negatives were that you could hear a blender in the kitchen (over the music) due to the lack of other patrons and there’s a tiny note on the door that says cash only, however it’s across from an ATM so no real issue. None of these would stop us from visiting again!

Food was £40 for 2 of us to have papadums, pickle tray, 2 chicken curries, 2 drinks, 2 naans and rice. All in all, value for money and...

I strongly feel I have to write this review...on Tuesday 29th of November I ordered two curries for delivery...they arrived and when I began to consume them was shocked at the texture for one of the curries and the complete lack of taste and absolutely no taste of any curry or spices....in fact I struggled to identify it as a curry.....then next day myself and a friend who ate the other curry were violently poorly....this is tottaly unacceptable ..I'm very close to reporting this to the environment health or food standards. Don't underderestimate my anger....read some more reviews on here and a excuse the chef had a bad day or please contact us just simply isn't good enough.....they has been a serious breath of health standards here either in the ingredients or cooking standards.....I look forward to your reply but I will not accept and white...

First time ordered today (most likely last as well) via Uber delivery after seeing good review score.

Probably the chef was on leave today.

Ordered three items.

Lucknow lamb chops. Looked good but it was hard and very chewy either poor marination or cooked on too high heat if so not an option for door delivery. Went to bin.

Old Delhi curry. Curry base was ok taste but the chicken was tasteless even though they seemed to have used marinated chicken.

Mixed platter for 2 starter. Lamb tikka was good but both chicken and seekh kebab was not.

It was very new for me to see ketchup on both chops and meat.

May be a place for someone who wants to have asian food but with more...
