To be honest was really quite disappointing. We made a booking after not being able to get a table yesterday. I moved the booking forward by half hour with no problems. Arrived and was sat by the door asked if we could go in a bit but couldn't 'right now' After seating other guests arrived so unless the booked a specific table no idea why we couldn't of gone there. Food was ok good portion sizes X2 of the scotty to hotty both people said it wasn't spicy I had I think the pope burger, was ok. I also had mac n cheese, after a few bites i tried to get someone's attention, when I did i said it didn't taste very much like anything other than pasta and if it was possible to have some cheese someone else then came and took it i heard them clearly tell the kitchen "she doesn't think it has enough cheese " honestly that felt rather frustrating, when someone returned with a replacement they asked how the burgers where but in a way they didn't want yo know and was walking away before, I said the others didn't feel they were spicy, to be told they are not spicy but would feedback to kitchen. No offer for sauces or anything. We finished our meal waiting for the bill eventually my mum got up to ask and pay as assumed maybe thats what you did, a waitress said they had a birthday brownie for us(I had written it was a birthday on the booking) this was a nice surprise. altough I had just eaten a brownie. Sadly after that nice gesture and us waiting for the bill again I heard someone at the till speaking to a waiter clearly about our bill and loudly saying this isn't a mac n cheese restaurant. We got the bill paid and left. The birthday brownie was a nice touch the rest was completely disappointing

Recently had the pleasure of sinking my teeth into the legendary Scotty 2 Hotty at Lou & Joe's, and it was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. I went full throttle and added a buttermilk chicken patty to the double beef setup, and let me tell you – it was a flavour explosion that should have its own fan club! What makes this burger even better (besides the perfectly cooked patties and that cheeky bit of spice) is the heart behind it. For every Scotty 2 Hotty sold, Lou & Joe's donates to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance – how's that for making a difference with your meal? Lou (the man, the myth, the legend) and Scotty (the inspiration behind the burger) aren't just great chefs; they’re great men who put their community first. This restaurant isn’t just about burgers; it’s about heart, community, and a whole lot of Yorkshire spirit. Now, let's talk coffee – next level! Served in cups made from old coffee grinds, it's eco-friendly and delicious. And the dessert? To die for. On Scotty’s recommendation, I went for the salted fudge cake with cookies and cream ice cream – honestly, I think I might've transcended to another plane of existence after that. Whether you're in for the food, coffee, or just good vibes, this place delivers. Go on, get a Scotty 2 Hotty and support a fantastic cause while indulging in one of the best burgers (and desserts) you’ll ever have. Lou & Joe's, you have my respect. 👌

Another top draw visit with great service and delicious food. This time was a brunch visit. I had the Morning Glory burger which was superb. Amazing flavours from the sauce and meats but none were overpowering. Really good bun which was soft but nicely toasted. The Full Monty tater tots were incredible! Loads of chorizo chunks and more great flavours. Nice big portion too. Can't recommend this place enough. Burgers for all moods! And amazing sides to boot. NEXT VISIT Previous visits have provided superb grub but the Phat Boi I had this time around was elite level. Sauces were absolutely bangin and the chicken was beautifully crisp. Regretting that I didn't double up! I instead opted for pulled chicken poppers which were tasty but sadly were not 'pulled' chicken which needs correcting on the menu! The coleslaw and sweet potato fries were fantastic and like the poppers were plentiful in terms of portion. The sweet and sticky sauce was great for dipping but I feel that charging £1.50 is bit naff. However I was more bothered that I was charged for adding pickles to my burger. When ordering as much as I did I think they could have chucked some pickles in for free really... As always the staff were delightful and it's a brilliant place to eat. I'm sure I'll be back for a bigger Phat Boi!

So disappointed! We have been to L&Js on many occasions and have previously raved about it to friends and family but the last two occasions (takeaway and dine in) were so poor I don’t think we will be returning.

We ordered 3 specials, 2 of which came without one of the key ingredients (salsa verde).Mine was actually so soggy I couldn’t lift it off the plate 🤢 to top it off the flavour combination just didn’t work and we are all very adventurous and open-minded foodies.

Additionally, my son’s (whose birthday it was) had chicken poppers that were completely over cooked and dry as a bone. The mayo we asked for can really not be described as mayo, despite it clearly having some sort of seasoning it tasted of absolutely nothing, certainly not mayonnaise. Is the seasoning to cover the fact it’s awful mayonnaise?

I asked for a Pharrell soda and it had such little syrup in it tasted of absolutely nothing. I asked two family members to try it in case it was just me but sadly not. Thankfully this was eventually rectified once notifying a team member but it’s such a basic thing it shouldn’t be an issue.

A last couple of notes, £3.80 for a pump soda is quite frankly daylight robbery. A bottle? Maybe. But from the tap when it costs pennies?! That’s more expensive than London restaurants! And finally, despite booking in advance we were seated at the walk-ins table/dog area where it was very cold and drafty despite upstairs being empty. The service also felt very half-hearted and my mum felt rushed to eat her food being asked on several occasions if we were finished despite her clearly still eating.

I’m so gutted as I really loved this place but it seems with initial success, the prices have massively increased and the quality has gone downhill. It’s saddening to see this is reflected in quite a lot of recent reviews. Really hope you guys can turn it...
