Ten Fourteen — Restaurant in Kirklees

Had a very bad experience here. We called to book for half 7 were told that it would be very busy bc and would have to wait a long time for food so perhaps 8 would be better. Arrived at 8, ordered by 8:20. My fiancé and I both ordered nachos to start as well as our mains. We then didn’t receive any food for over an hour.

Finally a plate of ‘vegan’ nachos arrived but sadly with cheese and sour cream on them. We then sent them back and then asked how long the food would be. We continued to be told ‘oh it will just be a little while’. Then almost half an hour later, so it was now around 9:45pm another plate of nachos arrived which we’re vegan, yet a less complicated dish, just plain nachos was still yet to arrive. Then eventually after 10pm we decided that we didn’t want to wait for the food any longer as it was now getting ridiculous, we approached the bar staff who had been dealing with our order and informed them that we were leaving. One of whom decided to make a joke about the situation. Might it be noted that he has been drinking beers behind the bar. He then told us that we wouldn’t have to pay for the food and that it would be there in a matter of minutes.

Again we waited, and food was delivered....eventually. However upsettingly the burrito that I had ordered was cold and had items in it that I had requested to be removed. After this the bar tender, who had made a joke earlier, then said that he wouldn’t charge us for the food but would for the drinks, after his colleague (who was in fact the bar manager) had already said that we would not be charged!

Really one of the worst dining experiences ever!

Go elsewhere for better experience and better food that you might actually...

Wow! We'd heard they do a good roast. Boy, they weren't wrong! A good roast is hard to find, right? Occasionally you stumble upon one where everything just comes together in sweet perfection? Well Ten14 smashed it last Sunday, the gastronomic forces aligned. We popped in on the off chance they were still serving and were greeted by two FOH staff who couldn't have been more welcoming or better at their jobs, both were a credit to the business. Every mouthful of the roast was delicious; succulent chicken cooked perfectly, crisp n fluffy roasts, creamy mash, decent yorkie (not over-crisped, just right!), silky gravy with bags of meaty depth of flavour, just thick enough to coat a spoon - bravo chef; faultless execution. My partner had their (veggie) goats cheese Wellington and was equally delighted. We suspect the carrots had a dash of sticky orange in their butter jus...? Inspired! Greens had just enough bite, and were nice and fresh. I cannot wait to go back, next time with friends. I won't go on about the sicky toffee pudding, I'm sure you get the picture (sumptuous and bloomin' delish, is what it was). For balance, I would add that the themed decor seems a little at odds with the calibre/style of the food, not that it's a big deal. A gastronomic delight with clearly a talented team behind the scenes, perhaps just finding it's feet, identity-wise. a A smidge too much neon for a hearty gastro roast vibe (if that makes any sense...?) Still, cannot wait to dine again, clearly huge potential being cooked up. Lovers of roast...

Ten Fourteen for my wedding! We are not ones to write reviews good or bad but we had to write one for Ten Fourteen. We were unable to visit my husband's family due to COVID and they were unable to attend our wedding. We were finally able to make last minute plans to fly over for holiday at the end of July and we had to pull off a last minute wedding.

Enter in miracle workers at Ten Fourteen, @JayneCoxhead and @NigelTurner pulled off a beautiful ceremony that looked like it was planned for ages. @JayneCoxhead is the BEST event creator and personalized our event with surprises like personalized candies, pulling a rabbit out of a hat finding an amazing photographer l with a drone last minute and managed the event to ensure everything ran off smoothly. We received so many compliments about the food and dessert, I can't say enough.

We will be going to Ten Fourteen for our next event. Thank you for making our wedding special for our UK family and friends @JayneCoxhead and @NigelTurner! The food was amazing, the space was perfect for our party and our guests were even able to continue down to the club after the wedding. Amazing night, can't thank everyone at Ten Fourteen enough for making this stress free so we can focus on spending time with friends and family we haven't seen in 3 years due to COVID.
