Really disappointed to write this review as this is somewhere we have been meaning to try for the last few months after seeing the amazing looking food on Facebook. The experience we had today was so poor, we chose to come today (Monday lunchtime around 12:30pm) for a nice lunch before my friend started work. We were the only ones in the pub and weren’t even greeted with a hello! After saying we wanted to eat we were given 2 ‘lazy Sunday’ menus, which was confusing as it was Monday & the spring/summer menu is what drew us to go here (served 12-3 excluding sat & sun) I asked for the Philly cheese steak sandwich and was abruptly told they weren’t doing that menu today. We decided on the ‘bun bun platter’ two burgers & a side for £30. We ordered and paid for our food and drinks at the bar. About 10 minutes of waiting the girl from the bar came over and said unfortunately their meat fridge had been turned off therefore they would have to go out and get supplies which would mean a long wait! I just think this was a terrible excuse, how could this even happen? Just seemed like they didn’t want to start cooking just for us. We got our money back & won’t be returning. We felt uncomfortable & felt like we weren’t wanted there. I’m presuming it would be different all together if we went on a weekend, however this has...

So this is a one time visit as it’s not an area we frequent Positive comments Very Friendly staff in a nice setting by canal Food was very tasty and well presented and a rarity my child’s food was the right volume for a child her age and it was served on a plastic plate ( not that she would have broken it ) this was good as it wasn’t hot and meant no risk of burning herself and food reached eating temperature quickly 👍 Negatives comment Preface this with we have no idea what situation may have occurred We were told a wait of 30 mins for food as they were busy ( couldn’t see it myself but could have been elsewhere ) but it was close to the hour, not sure if over or under the hour. The menu was very limited and we thought over priced but when we got the food it was worth the wait - the chicken burger was excellent and gourmet style ! The temperature of room /bar was cold but again we’re just coming out of summer so she put heating on for me which was nice of her.

If I found my self there again - I’d give it another go i think the long wait and the temperature just ruined it for me - until food arrived. They were apologetic about the wait and I...

Never before have I seen 5 tables walk out of a restaurant due to either no food, or terrible food. This was just in the 2 hours we were there. The food was a joke. We were kindly offered 25% off our bill only to find out they couldn't even find our bill and brought someone elses. We were served by a lovely girl called Hannah who was obviously embarrassed by the situation and seemed physically shaken when she came out and told us and one other table that we can just leave. All while some guy who looked like an owner of some kind walked around smiling with a pint of beer. As someone who owns hospitality venues myself, how dare you leave your staff in such a bad situation. They were all trying their best without any procedures or systems in place to be successful within your business and they were left to fail and take anger from your customers. They were a credit to your beautiful pub. Apparently you were busy? In two hours I counted around 20 people eating and a good chunk of those were staff....

Lovely, snug place to visit. Fire was on, so cosy ! After a morning stroll along the canal myself and friends enjoyed pub cooked food here. *Specials menu 2 meals £15 ! A right Bargain !! Great meals had : Sausages n mash, fish, chips, peas & curry sauce !!, GIANT Yorkshire pudding, beef stew n gravy. Fish butty comes in a sandwich with lettuce and tartar sauce. Oh and SHARING PLATTERS !!! WOW JUST WOW !!! Wouldn't recommend the "chinese" chicken curry & rice, taste like packet rice and not much sauce...quite dry...(was kindly refunded for my disappointment/disliking) STICK TO the PROPER TRADITIONAL pub meals and you'll be right :)

I visited the Leggers sort of be default. We had booked in for a night at the associated caravan and motorhome club certificated location on our way to Northumberland. The pub and the site are a short walk (50metres) apart. The bar is nicely stocked with a good variety of real ales along with the normal array of other drinks. It is situated near the Savile town canal basin in Dewsbury. It was was easy to find. The pitches have electric hookup, water hookup and are nice and flat on a base of gravel. The location is quiet at night.
