I have seen this place decline. Once a firm favourite because the menu was so different and the food was lovely.
Just recently, (last 6 months) I've noticed that it's grubby. The stairs are always full of dirt, the floors need a good scrub, the pallet style tables allow food down the gaps, which stay there for ages, the chairs are wobbly and unstable, the staff bar one are miserable, especially the young blonde girl with big lashes. One day recently, we were one of 2 tables busy and every other table was piled with dirty dishes. When they clear tables, they don't always wipe them and I can't tell you how many times there's been food on the floor under a 'cleaned' table.
I feel like an inconvenience now and I don't feel happy with the standard of cleanliness.
This is a shame as the food is lovely (odd issues here and there, but nothing to stop me going back) but there's more to going for food than the standard of the food. They are serving amazingly inventive dishes in dirty surroundings, with a crap speaker playing crap music, no atmosphere and staff who can't even crack a smile. Honestly you can do better, because you have in the past.
Your standards have slipped dramatically and it's showing big time. I'd love to see you acknowledge this rather than get defensive. This is constructive feedback on a venue which could be outstanding.
I won't be back unless the place gets a good scrub, they fix their leaky loo, the staff slap a smile on their face and you fix your...
Read moreWent here today on a recommendation but, being the sceptic that I am, I wasn't expecting anything great.
I was wrong. Today I had the nicest breakfast I've had in years. Locally sourced, fresh and high quality ingredients, reasonably priced and prepared with passion. The sourdough bread soaked in butter was making my mouth water as I watched the plate arrive at my table. I don't like sausages and 90% of the time when I eat breakfast I ask for no sausages... but today I didn't and I even enjoyed that. Mushrooms were perfect, egg was just...sex on a plate... tomato lovely, bacon very, very slightly overdone but was still gorgeous... beans delicious.
Only issue would be very small portion of beans, but cannot fault the quality at all. Same with the orange juice... I got a glass that was little bigger than a shot glass. Don't mind paying more, but definitely need to use bigger glasses as that glass wasn't big enough for a toddler.
All in all, I will be back again very soon! To anyone reading this, give it a try... you will be glad you did... and I don't give recommendations like...

Pros. -Good quality food and drink
Negatives.
Basics - no table numbers so staff have no idea where orders go as you order inside, broken picnic tables meaning only 1 plank of wood to support up to 3 people, foliage in very poor upkeep, no greeting or instruction on arrival and all menus randomly in a holder not by the counter where you order, condiments not available. No disabled/mobility impaired access or adaptions.
Further things lacking.
staff attitude, not a single person greeted us, asked if we needed help with ordering, never asked about dietary requirements or even attempted to upsell with recommendations, they also forgot to bring our coffees to the table so we had to ask after waiting 20 minutes after we had finished our food. no cover outside at all from the elements no access to the station platform limiting customers who may want a take away coffee whist they wait
I could go on but this would rectify the majority of complaints we saw...
