Axum Bar and Restaurant — Restaurant in Leeds

Set your expectations for the decor. We knew going in it’s going to be more of a ‘homely’ vibe rather than a fancy restaurant setting.

Server was amazing. Good recommendations from the menu for first timers. Gave us a choice of tea to taste from which was a lovely touch.

Only quibble was that they didn’t get our reservation. So had to sit by the bar- didn’t affect our experience in the end.

The ‘bread’ had a sour tinge for my taste- but the rest of my party didn’t mind/notice it.

Overall, would come again and try different things...

We’re Ethiopian and love to eat at Ethiopian restaurants all over the world.

The food here was not good. It was lukewarm (with the exception of the hot shiro) with the lentil dish looking dry.

Whilst the injera at the restaurant was good. The extra injera we paid for had white mould and was hard. Unfortunately we only realised this when we got home, and opened the package.

Perhaps we were unlucky on this visit. It was our second time here. The first visit, over a year ago, was better. We’ll not visit again...

First time I’ve ever had Ethiopian food and it was absolutely incredible!
