BOX Headingley — Restaurant in Leeds

I am a social assistant for the Leeds University International Summer School and organised a social event for the students at The Box. I could not be more grateful to all the box staff for making this event unforgettable. I called up just 1 day prior to the event to ask the box staff it would be ok to bring approximately 50 students.

Olivia’s communication with me leading up to the event was incredible. I want to express my sincere gratitude to her for going above and beyond to make this event so successful. Olivia arranged for us to have an area reserved upstairs, got the pool equipment out for us and blocked off a section downstairs so students could take part in the quiz.

Unexpectedly, over 100 students turned up to The Box. Olivia’s professionalism and dedication to customer service were evident and her ability to handle a significantly larger crowd than expected was truly impressive. Her flexibility was outstanding.

The students all ordered food and the kitchen staff were phenomenal and worked tirelessly to ensure all the students received their meals, despite their only being four of them in the kitchen. I am so grateful to them. The food was delicious and all the students loved it. There was such a great range of choice and it was all 50% off.

The bar staff deserve such high praise for their friendly and accommodating demeanor. They effortlessly handled the increased demand and remained calm throughout the duration of the event, making everyone feel welcome and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all the students.

The students had so much fun and The Box was the perfect location for the students to socialise and get to know one another.

I wholeheartedly recommend The Box as a venue for hosting events. Olivia demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, making our evening unforgettable. Went here to watch the boxing on saturday, so first things I invited a friend down from south yorkshire and we decided the box was the place to go to watch. We rang up to ask if they was showing the boxing, the staff what answered the phone was brill he said we are indeed the undercards have started little did he say the door staff needed training so we walked up was in their half an hour and realised we had no smokes so i nipped to the shop and ranf my friend on the way back up to meet me outside he walked past the bouncer with a pint which was not stated he could not as he was stood bang next to them outside the door. So as i re approached and we went to go in the bouncer said you cant come in here with that to my friend, he stated we got in from in their so the bouncer said finish it chuck it in the bin and come in. Once this was done we was refused entry on their own mistake of they was doing their job and told him he would of waited inside instead of 1 meter away from the door. As he explained he had just bought ot from inside and was not aware he could not stand next to the door with it the other bouncer literally shouted you are not comming in tonight like we was some 17 year old kids on a bender. Baring in mind he had traveled and i recomended this place to him un professional and and an absolute joke stay well clear! We went to the sky rack got a seat and stayed their for the night instead was a result as this was better and a lot more entertaining. Once again i would not reccomend this to anyone. Usual bouncers thinking their above the general public, and because of their own mistake seemed to be in denial. Worste experience in all my times...

The security guards were extremely rude and obnoxious, I appreciate it’s difficult in “covid times” however there was no need to talk to people the way they did. Walking around shouting “who wants to be the first to get kicked out” left me feel intimidated and feeling like I can’t enjoy my night.

We were asked to leave our table at approximately 2200hrs although my booking was until 2230hrs. Once again we were bullied of the table by security and put outside in the rain. We were left with 10 beers that we still hadn’t drank but we had no option but to leave due to the pushy staff.

During the course of the night I felt my table was singled out by the bouncers. I felt as if they were watching our every move and felt like we had been picked on. No other table near to where we were sat had a dressing down like we got over and over again.

As a professional I understand how hard it is to keep things managed over the duration of Covid 19 however I can not seem to get my head round how my friends and I were treated last night (18/6/21). From what should have been a night to enjoy turned into a night of constantly watching over our shoulders feeling as if we were going to get thrown out of the bar for doing nothing wrong at all. It just seems as if the security use Covid legislation as a way to bully people rather than legislation that is present to keep people safe.

So all in all I did not enjoy my night here and felt it had been totally ruined by the rude bullies you employ...
