We recently visited La Grande on Abbey Road on a Saturday afternoon, and our experience was fantastic. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the bright, clean, and airy atmosphere. We were seated at a lovely table by the window, which allowed us to watch the world go by while we enjoyed our meal. A nice touch was the retractable window, letting in a gentle breeze, adding to the relaxing ambiance. The service was excellent, with our food arriving promptly and plates being cleared in good time. Though it was a bit quiet when we arrived around 3 pm, it suited us perfectly. We skipped starters but enjoyed some delicious olives with our drinks while waiting for our mains. For the main course, my son had a margherita pizza, which he loved, while my partner enjoyed a creamy carbonara. I opted for the spicy seafood pasta, which was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. We also shared a side of garlic bread with cheese and tomato, which was absolutely stunning. It was a perfect complement to our mains. We had been meaning to try La Grande for a while, and I’m so glad we finally did. I can’t wait to return, and next time, I’ll definitely be trying a margherita cocktail. Highly recommended!

I brought my wife here for date night. She lives for italian cuisine and we had just that week got back from a fortnight tour in Italy for our honeymoon. I took a punt on a new reastaurant and it paid off. After the closure of Dos Amigos i was looking forward to, but not holding my breath about what would replace it. All I can say is what an absolute gem this restaurant is, there are many Italian restaurants in Leeds but after visiting, this is a go to spot around my local area. Hospitality first; the staff are so welcoming and really attentive. I am generally not one to pick on service, but I can really appreciate when it's amazing. The staff here ARE amazing, friendly and make your meal special. The food, is incredible. The quality of the produce is night and day to most italian places in leeds at this pricepoint. I was humbled, I'm not a salmon guy but the way Le Grande cook theirs, and now I am. In our order we had: Caprese Salad The mixed seafood platter Garlic pizza Tomato and onion salad Tiramasu Bottle of wine. Welcome La grande to the kirkstall area and may you thrive.

Booked here for my boyfriends birthday, first time we've been. It was a quiet Wednesday evening and I'd booked for around 6:30. We were greeted and seated, and liased the menu. Noticed the carbonara was made with cream and not egg which is unauthentic and disappointing, but I was craving it, so got it. Staff weren't as attentive as they could have been as our drinks were left empty for a little while with only 3 other tables occupied. I had to ask someone in the end. Garlic bread starter was nice and very garlic-y. Boyfriend liked his mushrooms. My carbonara was very creamy (boo). The pancetta was either very fatty or very thin and crisp so I did end up leaving a lot of it. Boyfriends pizza wasn't what he expected, but he ate it anyway. Our desserts were lovely, but the tiramisu is a bit misleading from the menu picture - I thought it would be served in a glass with traditional soaked biscotti, but it was like any other restaurants or even shop bought tiramisu. Overall, rather disappointing. Don't think I'd come back. Had higher hopes considering the reviews.

Ate here last night as a group of 7 celebrating a birthday.

As soon as we arrived we were given a warm welcome and shown to our table, the server gave us a bit of time to get seated & comfortable before taking our drinks order, we were then given a bit of time to go over the menu. Between us, we ordered seven starters, seven mains and two desserts. I had the mushroom starter and spaghetti carbonara for my main, both of which were delicious but the mushrooms were definitely my favourite… I am already looking forward to having them again at some point! Some other things ordered by our party were pizza, lasagna, the mozzarella starter and the antipasto misto, everyone else was as equally impressed with the food as I was. I aloe thought the prices we very good especially considering the portion sizes of the main meals!

As well as the food been fantastic, I must say that the decor is really lovely, very clean and had a really nice atmosphere.

The service was impeccable and nothing was any trouble to them, they were all very polite, friendly and relaxed. I felt everything was really well timed the drinks and food came promptly but I felt we were given enough time and not rushed at all.

We really could not find fault with anything and we will definitely be back and recommending everyone...

A Taste of Italy in the Heart of Kirkstal

I recently had the pleasure of dining at La Grande in Leeds, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment I stepped inside, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for an exceptional evening.

The menu offered a fantastic selection of authentic Italian dishes, showcasing both traditional flavors and modern creativity. I opted for the homemade lasagna, and it was perfection—layers of tender pasta, rich ragu, and creamy béchamel baked to golden perfection. My companion chose the wood-fired pizza, which was a masterpiece of a thin, crispy crust topped with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The service was equally impressive, with friendly and attentive staff who were happy to make recommendations and ensure every detail was just right. We were even treated to a complimentary limoncello, a lovely touch that made us feel truly valued as guests.

To top it all off, the dessert—a classic tiramisu—was light, indulgent, and the perfect end to an unforgettable meal.

Whether you’re craving a cozy dinner for two or a gathering with friends, La Grande is a must-visit for Italian food lovers in Leeds. I can’t wait to return and explore more...
